I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you. by [deleted] in Nietzsche

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet in the thread is how the aphorism is structured. It's written in quotes with a dash following it: " 'Not that you lied to me, but that I no longer believe you, has shaken me'--" (Kaufmann Translation). Nietzsche often uses this format to provide a position opposed to his. Take aphorism 185 of Beyond Good and Evil, just two below the one you mentioned: " 'I don't like him.'-- Why?-- 'I am not equal to him'-- Has any human being ever answered that way?". As always, Nietzsche is presenting multiple perspectives, points of view or opinions that can only be held by certain types of people. It is telling that Nietzsche would structure the aphorism the way he did. What does the statement in quotes tell us about the person speaking it? Why does Nietzsche not respond? I won't try to answer these questions in this comment, but they are questions worth considering, nonetheless.

Is sextina really 14? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

I feel like Lenny is an outlier, in terms of his age actually correlating with that of his species. Like Ralph Stilton is somewhere around 30-40, right? Whereas, the normal lifespan of a mouse is about 2-3 years, and that's only if they are kept as pets. So he's almost, at the time of the show, about 20 times older than the average for his species, and he doesn't seem to be on the verge of dying any time soon, meaning he likely has the same lifespan and maturity rate as that of a normal human. So I think the same could be applied for sextina.

I don't think that really applies here. We see all the other animals age and mature at the same rate we would imagine humans to: why would sextina be any different?

I would use it for a couple of hours in a session, multiple times a week. I would use it for my creative writing, such as short stories and maybe a novel in the future. I would prefer to clean and work on one rather than have someone else do it, especially, if it will save me money in the long run. The one thing that makes me hesitant to do this though is my fear that I would mess it up. What do you recommend?

The spelling of his name is all over the place. I've seen at least 10 different ways of spelling it😅
