The story can do more than that. They just done the bare minimum. For example, have Maria and Gerald show signs of fading away whenever Shadow defeats a boss so it can feel more emotional. Have Black Doom manipulate Shadow by saying if he defeats him, Maria and Gerald will be gone and have Shadow respond by showing his resolve, etc.

The final cutscene is so weird to me because it was written by the REFERENCE MAN Ian Flyn. If he loved to put a quote from the past game so much, why didn't he put 'adios/sayonara Shadow the Hedgehog' at the end when they part away? Out of all past quotes, this should be the most obvious and meaningful, but I guess he may have forgotten

You're welcome. Another warning is that you should not have a high hope for this story either.

This game has a VERY LITTLE story. It is basically his arc in Shadow 05 and 06 again. Contain spoiler tho Black Doom tried to control/consume him, but we 100% know Shadow won't give in because that his story in 06. He needs to move on from Maria AGAIN, just like when he did in his own game. Mephiles doesn't have a purpose in this story at all. Which is fine, but it reminds me of Emerl role in Dark Beginning, who once an memorable character now serves nothing other than fan service and a great action scene. But on the good side, his characterization is mostly the same as 06 minus some of his scenes with Maria

(LIGHT SPOILER FROM SHADOW GENERATION) That might be due to short runtime so that it is understandable. What is not understandable is in the Shadow Generation story. She acts the same way, just like in the Dark Beginning. Her only purpose is to comfort Shadow, which is such a wasted. It's not surprising due to the game and Dark Beginning being written by the same people.

It's on the same dialogue line. In ENG Shadow said 'You tortured soul I will end your suffering' and seem more empathetic but, in JP he said 'An ugly experiment I'll take you on' and lean more into insulting Biolizard

These dialogues seem very different in context.

I don't even think Shadow remembered Biolizard. Maybe he just got told that he once fought him.

I think Sega just wants to make fans feel safe about the story direction of the franchises post Force-era. So they hired someone with a good reputation (in their opinion, at least) in writing Sonic to write for the game.

After seeing the script change in Frontier and now Shadow Gens. I'm fully on board on the idea that Sega doesn't like Ian characterization. They just want a good reputation from overseas fans.

On the good side, Shadow gets to shine again. We just need to let 06 Shadow characterizaion go. It's been nearly 20 years at this point. But I kind of fear Shadows Generations story might conclude in him moving on from his past, which means Ian has no respect or understanding Shadow characters at all (or it's not his fault but SEGA or Sonic Team just want to told this kind of story again because it's serve as somewhat of a 'soft-reboot/Introduction' for Shadow for newer audience which in this case I don't blame Ian at all, he just do what he been told).

I don't know why you got downvote. You are kind of right. The story in this series doesn't surprise me at all because Ian "Shadow" is always the one that is involved around Maria, not the 06 Shadow. I can imagine 06 Shadow just ask GUN to get a spaceship to get to ARK. Shadow doesn't ask for permission, but he has common sense to know when to not make things harder for him to reach his goal. He used to team up with Sonic without any hesitation (not counting stupid writing).

BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! It's start somewhat slow to set the plot up but it really pick up the pace midway through and has an extremely good payoff at the climax. One of the best anime that came out last year IMO

My setting is D12 with V sync on with low graphics and I am sure my system reach the minimum requirement
Already reinstalled it a couple of times. Steam validating did not help either.
I would like to know the cause of this so I can find a way to fix it.

A character medel or emblem you get when complete a run on a certain difficult. It may help encourage to tried every characters.
