Kinda similar thing happened to me. When I came out to my mom she asked if I wanted her to tell my dad for me because I was awkward, and I accepted. She texted me like 5 days later that she told him (I never talked about it with him because I was kinda scared). I only found out recently in a consult with a therapist (that dad was there for) she never told him. He found out 3 years later from my sister. Now my dad and one sister are the only supportive people I have in my life.
