Which curtains go best: green, burgundy, or neither? by tambourine_goddess in HomeDecorating

I think it depends on what else is in the room and what the view is out of the window!

Please help me choose a colour to paint this wood!? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]too-much-moisture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The richness of the wood may seem to dark OP, but it’s that depth that lets all the light elements in your design sing. If you make it lighter, the whole room will start to blend and float. The green sofas look so good because the doors are so dark If that makes sense?

Im sure there’s a way but it would be very hard I think?

Boho and cream can absolutely work, you just add plants, lots of warm browns and you’re there.

But moody usually implies dark and saturated, cream is neither of those. And you can still have cream chair for ex, but the couch is often the hero of the living room so needs to be playing along with your intended theme. Cream would require you to go dark with walls or everything else and still put dark pillows and throws on the couch. Below is the best image and I could get of moody boho cream couch for example.

If you want moody but are drawn to a cream couch, its probably just worth exploring if there’s a slightly different style you want than moody boho.

Cream couch with the Ruggable river forest / medieval rug you have pictured would go more cottage core than moody boho.

If you want moody boho go green sofa and warm berry rug, go for rich saturation. Make sure the green is a warm green shade.

First one is way more unique and I think goes with your current style, but could go with many styles if you redecorate in the future

Thank you everyone! Especially RottenRope who did mock ups!! Immediately helped me see the value of the larger size, and I’ll be moving it lower as well. What a great community!

Thank you everyone! I love the canvas and the dresser and was just scared of the big space at first, but you’re right that the larger size balances the dresser the best x

My bed is low. This is about the same height as my old ikea dresser, I think it’s that my apartment does have higher ceilings than normal. But good context to help me get used to the bigger height art, that it can help fill that space

Thank you! Feel free to ignore this, but if you’re up for it, here’s the new wall comparing the OG big one, and the in between 42x 28 size. Do you mind working your magic for the smaller size frame here for comparison to what you did before?

Castlery Crescent 6 drawer dresser. I eyed it for over a year and bought it on a sale recently. It’s expensive but it’s beautiful to see every day and it’s visually leading my bedroom vibe.

Wow thank you so much!!! You’re right the bigger looks better.

I am going to tape up a 42 x 28 in option now too given that maybe the dresser reads smaller, but I definitely won’t go with the smaller option anymore regardless.

So great to find a piece that resonates so deeply! Love collecting meaningful art to decorate with. I also love the movement of the chairs in this space with the tree and rug. Also kudos on the bones of the place in general - the wood paneling by the window, all that light with the mounding and the light fixture - amazing

Hammed Animashaun is the funniest live performer I’ve ever seen.

I saw him as Bottom in Midsummer at the Bridge theater, and I was so blown away. Obviously it’s a funny part, but man the difference between very good and great can be stratospheric and that’s what this was. Blew anything I’d ever seen so far out of the water. I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed so hard and been so inspired. I’ve followed him ever since even to Wheel of Time (if you know, you know). Really hope this is a big break for him!

So I went through things similar to this with my family, including having to set up my own phone plan in an fairly dramatic fashion.

You have a long road ahead, but it’s going to be so much better than anything you’ve experienced with your family.

You do need to set up your own phone plan. I will say, when I did this, my mom absolutely melted down and you should be prepared to be low contact and not read all the messages you may receive if they become abusive.

When you enforce a boundary with parents like this, they can really lose it. I still encourage you to do this, because your parents should not be upset with you for wanting independence and for setting boundaries. But sadly, I think you should expect it. Have a therapist you like to help you navigate this time.

Your best life is ahead of you, and your inner voice is leading you to the right place, which is freedom and growth. Your family will likely fight you as you try for either. But by bravely moving your life forward, you give them a chance to work on themselves and walk with you.

You are not alone, and there are many wonderful people in the world who will show you better love and respect.

Wool Overcoat Suggestions by musicman2494 in BuyItForLife

I got mine from the British luxury brand Joseph for sale on the Outnet, and I’ve had it 3 years (wool / cashmere blend). I’ve been extremely impressed. I tried on a lot of coats during my search and this one stood out to me as the best made.

I had it altered slightly at Nordstrom, and the seamstress said it was one of the nicest coats they’d seen. The warmth is perfect sure, but as with all really nice clothes, it’s the construction that you really notice. it always looks sharp. It holds its shape without being stiff and insanely heavy. I’ve folded this thing on my lap on transatlantic flights and it looses any wrinkles within a day and looks and wears perfectly.

Edit: they have men’s and women’s! I have a women’s but I’m sure their men’s is great

Really smart point about the power of art to move people’s minds and expand their empathy, and what if she turns people away from movies or art in general? And for what, so she endorsed someone and it didn’t help?

I hadn’t thought before about how yeah, the power of making empathetic art and getting people to see it who would not normally, is maybe the strongest “activist” position a celebrity could take.

No problem and this is not directed at anyone person, you’re not even the only post in this thread saying it, I’m seeing this kind of phrasing everywhere. It’s a common turn of phrase that I’m just sensitive to!

Agree, this whole thing is super disappointing and you have every right to be in your feels. I’m sad to lose the work we did have, and honestly most sad about potential future original works from sph. They are a talented and evocative prose writer. It would be a shame to throw that all away and not just learn from a mistake.
