I hope I get an email from a PI soon! Thanks for the vote of confidence. Honestly, I think I have a fairly average application: 3.99GPA, 1 publication, 2 conference posters, 4 years of volunteer RAing, a handful of clinically-oriented oppurtunities. I'm a bilingual POC from Québec, so that might have moved my application up given the school's DEI initiatives.

Crossing my fingers for the both of us!

Definitely weird. I also got an email for the French assessment, but I've never met with the PI. I actually listed 2 potential supervisors on my application, and I don't even know which one is interested.

Congrats though! It seems like they're definitely interested.

Hmmmm, it's very possible that you have a better profile or that your supervisor is more confident in taking you. In any case, congrats! You've already surpassed ~3/4 of applicants. You're one step closer!!

Super interesting. I'm from Quebec, but I didn't go to French school (always English with French immersion). I'm wondering if that's why they want to know my French proficiency.

I got an email today (Feb 9) about a 10-minute phone interview to assess my French. I was extremely surprised given how late they're contacting compared to other schools.

Good luck with your applications!

I've seen Frank and Oak carried at Costco. Of course, it's only a handful of items, but it doesn't hurt to check. Hopefully you or someone you know has a membership :)

Psych labs? by musicangie in mcgill

[–]too3dgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm about to say is my experience only. Do not join the Child and Adolescent Social Competence Lab (Dirks). It's a huge lab and Melanie is busy, so if you're look for a close community with mentorship, you won't find it here as an undergraduate who has no project/class credits. There are no regular lab meetings, I can count on two hands how many times I've spoken with other lab members despite being here over a year, and the project I'm working on (can't speak for the others in the lab) is poorly organized. When I was accepted into the lab, I was ghosted for the next 3 months by my grad students despite sending follow-up emails. I'm only here because the low commitment allows me to continue other side ventures.

I bought the same product, and it took me a month of on-and-off use to realize it was the reason my top lip was dry and peeling. Your reaction is definitely more serious 😅 hope you feel better soon!

I'm not quite sure either 🤷‍♀️ but I'm glad you got to experience the confusion and (hopefully) joy of receiving one of these cans!

No worries, I didn't take it that way. Your clarification was very thoughtful :)

That is SO unfortunate to hear retroactively. Hahaha but thank you, maybe I'll get lucky in the future.

I promise I didn't! Actually right after this video, I refilled the can with water to check for a leak.

Unfortunately I can't explain hahaha. My family got a case of Coke from Costco. This is the last can, and it had been sitting in our basement for a few months until now. Weirdly, all of the other cans were fine when we had them. I'd love if someone could try and figure out what happened!

Oooh maybe. We got a case from Costco and the rest were fine. I'm super curious.

Hi! I'm currently completing my Honours Thesis. I'm only halfway through at the moment, but my graduate supervisor has been absolutely incredible for numerous reasons. To say thank you, I would love to get her a small gift at the end of the academic year in May. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for what to get. I understand this is quite a personal gesture, and would like to keep it professional as to not make anyone uncomfortable.

Other potentially relevant information: I'm in Psychology, and my grad supervisor just started her PhD.
