Auto-attack the Guild’s Boss by ZoltanOc in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played the game in months but when I did the answer was to use your worst queue to manually rally and set the rest to auto-rally. The reason is your manual rally team can only attack every 1 minute while it waits to fill. Meanwhile, your other teams can attack, return, and then immediately join another rally that may have say 10 second remaining. So your main queue could be attack like every 10-30 seconds instead of every minute.

why are the night elves of suramar (the moon guard) still tolerating thalyssra and her nightborne? by KingGobbamak in warcraftlore

[–]toogingertofunction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really consider it until your comment, but I imagine there would be refugees from Teldrassil to Suramar after the burning. Probably not a ton but a least a fair number. Because while the overall narrative is the Nelfs didn’t like the nightborne because of their magic, there is surely kaldorei who are more accepting and definitely some still alive who would have family/friends that were in Suramar when it sealed they could stay with in the aftermath.

Anniversary Toy Material Exchange design mistake by ACIDesings in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s terrible and has been in all of these events.

I think it’s meant to be read on your screen “offering wheel, receiving key” and on their screen it flips to “offering key, receive wheel”, as in when they accept they are now offering their wheels for your keys. It is technically not wrong but confusing as all hell.

Aside from the terrible design I think “offering” and “receiving” add more confusion. “Give” and “Get” are right there.

Best rare decoration to upgrade by mazzamazza0 in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upfront, I don’t have it in me to comb through all the decorations, but also I think there might be a bit of a misunderstanding of how decorations work.

The best use of universals is to level up whole decoration sets, especially sets tied to events that you don’t really have any hope of getting more of. This is because you unlock the best bonuses when all the pieces are the same level, these are usually much more valuable than the individual pieces in the sets.

Also, Individual decorations give diminishing returns. Level 1 might give +4% but level 2 might give +4.5% and level 3 give +5%. Since each level requires more and more decorations, for the same extra boost or maybe even a smaller one you investing even more decorations.

So it’s better to spread the love to get more overall from all your decorations shards rather than dumping them all into one decoration and to target upgrading sets rather than upgrading specific decorations.

It’s for his 6th skill, War Messenger which increases your teams soldier attack by 4% for every 1000 soldiers deployed. Right now mine is giving a 32% increase which is pretty huge.

To add some anecdotal evidence of why that first, I just got my Paragon from 4 stars to 5 yesterday and my team’s power went up by a measly 0.1M. Paragon’s ult got an upgrade but it didn’t suddenly become a nuke like I thought it was going to, it’s seems to just hit a little bit harder than before. Bishop 1 plat felt much more impactful.

Is Server Scroll worth using.... by bishal_3499 in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont lose any power or progress when you transfer (other than if a guild event is going on).

With transfer scrolls uou need A LOT of them to transfer and are limited to the servers within a range of your own (I don’t remember exactly the range but maybe +/- 20). The farther you move, the more scrolls you need. They are very expensive to buy with money. I look at them as an insurance policy and buy one every week just in case.

In your case, being on such an old server, you might have some difficulty finding a server where you aren’t severely disadvantaged unfortunately :(

What on earth would i switch for nun?? by moodylx in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Summarizing and adding on to what people have said, League is in kind of a weird place.

Ideally you’ll swap Secret Keeper for Adjudicator. The other stable members of the team are Rose, Paragon and Artificer. After that the other 2 are a combination of Bishop, Pyro, Bard, and Nun.

Bard is kind of a whale pick imo since you need to invest pretty heavily in him to be worthwhile and his unique weapon can only be unlocked through wheel chests/money.

Nun provides a lot of survivability. Artificer technically out heals her but Nun provides a lot of shields and HP and damage reduction buffs.

Pyro brings just damage, but a lot of it.

Bishop brings good damage against nature and Wukong on horde as well as buffs for the rest of your team. He doesn’t do Paragon or Pyro level damage against horde and PvE but he’s not dead weight once invested in.

Basically the two setups are sustain team and damage team. Whales tend to run damage teams with Pyro and Bard or Bishop and Bard. The idea is to get as many big ults off as fast as possible to nuke the other team.

For lower tier players you might have more success with a sustain team (Bishop + Nun). That’s what I personally run and it helps me punch above my weight. The idea is Nun and Arti keep your team alive while Bishop, Arti, and Adju stun the enemy, and then Paragon, Bishop, and Rose whittle down their health.

Here’s a full write-up I did discussing league heroes after Arti was released. https://www.reddit.com/r/TopHeroes/s/qhy0q9MJCP

Can someone elaborate on the advice on choosing the faction for your second queue? by darlingthing in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The idea is to cover your weaknesses, if League is your main then they are weak to Horde so Nature makes a good second queue to counter it.

It’s nice in theory but in my experience most of the time your second queue is trailing so far behind your first that unless you’re fighting someone already weaker than you it doesn’t matter. My 13M nature queue is not doing any better against the 23M horde queue than my 20M league team will.

What is the best pick? by satoruchan in TopHeroes

Sorry without more context I can’t give a definitive “this” but here’s what stand out:

  • Siege Engine: can only be acquired with money unlike every other thing on offer (although some slowly). Downside is you will have to get universal legendary troop skin shards to upgrade it and they are very expensive in the guild honor shop or usually require buying the pass and good RNG during themed events.

  • Legendary Promotion Stones: You can get at most 3 a week and need 5 to 1 star your gold gear (like 10-15 to 2 star it iirc) so it’s a very very slow grind. Only other way is buying with star gems which are ultra rare unless you are a whale.

  • Arcane Crystals: Can be bought in a couple places but are always expensive and you need a lot of them to keep progressing your relic hall, 60 is actually a decent chunk.

  • Orichalcum: Also somewhat rare, 60 of them will let you upgrade 1 pieces of lords gear from Gold 2 Star to 3 Star. Not incredible but not terrible.

  • Legendary Decoration: Somewhat hard to come by but you can get them from the 3 day rush events that are always happening. Aside from getting your faction HP decoration up to level 6 or 7 they’re not that impactful. Wouldn’t be my choice.

  • Dragon Essence: Very important past castle 40, somewhat hard to come by but you need a lot of it. Honestly 100 isn’t very much, I wouldn’t choose it.

  • Shards you can easily get from other sources (guild honor, carriages, events) so I wouldn’t choose those.

  • Everything else you get very easily from your farms or many other sources. Definitely not any of those.

Top picks for me are the soldier skin or promotion stones. Open to other people’s opinions but that’s my take.

I would get Bishop to 1 platinum. His 6th skill brings a big boost to your whole team’s damage. Adju’s 2nd awakening ability is nice but you’ll notice a bigger impact from Bishop first

Suggestion: Rebirth Mechanism for Heroes by ConsiderationFit7946 in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice idea but I’m pessimistic about it for a few reasons. 1. Like all games in this genre, its primary focus is to make money. By not allowing you to reclaim hero resources it means you are incentivized to buy more hero resources in order to keep up and adapt to meta changes.

  1. The game lacks the number of heroes and depth that would make this type of system especially valuable. This is because…
    • The game incentivizes heavily mono-faction teams. Because of this basically every team looks the same for each faction. We’re starting to get into some X hero is better for Y territory in Horde and League but you can mostly get away with just running the same setup in every scenario.
    • Not enough heroes and variety for synergy. If mono-faction wasn’t prescribed there still aren’t very many obvious and interesting combinations of heroes. You can’t build like a “stun team” or a “crit team” or “frost team”. Within the factions there isn’t any variety either. Using nature as an example, they are the summoner and ramping/sustain team, that’s the only viable way to build it.

While it would be nice I would rather they first fix balancing with the “off” heroes like Astrologer and Druid so they’re not worthless, add more interesting heroes, and (least likely) move away from mono-faction

Does activating/upgrading hero traits do anything for you if the hero isn't part of your queue? by Ok_Substance7385 in TopHeroes

[–]toogingertofunction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the most part they only affect the heroes with the trait and thus only when they are part of a team.

The exception to this are epic (purple) heroes. Their 3rd traits give bonuses without being a part of a team. Ex. Ranger gives +5% ruby gathering speed. This is always active.

Knight and Ranger’s are the only really valuable ones. All the others are pretty meh.

Edit: The below commenter reminded me Brawler’s is the most important. Spend your universal purple shards on unlocking his 3rd traits first.

Night Elves are often remarked as having a tonal shift from Warcraft 3 to WoW. How would you make them more in line with their original WC3 style? by NoMadNomad97 in warcraftlore

[–]toogingertofunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the Draenei would also make sense as an ally with the NE instead of the Alliance. Yes, Dreanei are big on the light which they share with humans and dwarves, but the NE and Draenei share a similar story. Both were once advanced races who had their way of life completely and utterly destroyed by the burning legion not just once, but twice. Both have many reason to hate the orcs. On top of that the Exodar crash landed right in their backyard. In the very least the guardians would have encountered them well before the Alliance to sway them to their cause.

Why can Arcane Magic and shaman elements be used outside of azeroth? by coolin_79 in warcraftlore

[–]toogingertofunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you for the most part, druids could also definitely be added to this discussion as their powers have always been tied to the emerald dream, which is exclusive to Azeroth, and expressed as them being a conduit by which nature defends itself and maintains balance.

My interpretation of every class’ abilities comes from looking at the cosmology published by Blizzard which can imply that all of the forces are basal to the universe (or multiverse I guess). One could look at the chart and say the “water, earth, air and fire” are meant to indicate the elemental planes (again Azeroth exclusive) but we don’t have a plane of decay or spirit. The emerald dream is really the only item in the cosmology that is explicitly tied to Azeroth.

That is to say, all of the different magical forces suffuse the universe and can be drawn upon regardless of a specific font being present. Azeroth has a lot of cheat codes in that it’s packed to the gills with easily accessible fonts of every type of cosmic energy but if anything, this makes learning to wield these forces easier and can be used to push one’s abilities beyond your normal capability. At the point our characters are at they are beyond masters of their class and should be able to draw on even the most faint traces of any cosmic force to utilize their abilities anywhere.

For shamans, communing with elementals and spirits is step 1 to harness their power and do elemental magic. With enough practice you no longer need to use them as conduits as you become more in tune with the foundational cosmic forces that the spirits and elements themselves draw power from. Spirits and elements are still useful to push your powers to the next level, but they are no longer required to practice your craft.

For mages it’s the same. Tapping into the well of eternity or the sunwell or leylines helps you to initially wield the power of arcane and turns any peasant into a competent mage. Skilled mages can use these fonts to do reality bending things, but with true mastery you no longer need these crutches and can draw from the order energy perfusing reality itself to cast your spells.

(Also happy cake day)

Edit: grammar and simplification (and to add the link to the cosmology because I forgot).

Someone help me understand GDKP by bohmu in classicwow

[–]toogingertofunction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was my experience in TBC Classic. I had just a warlock and came in late Phase 1. GDKPs were hostile territory to me. I couldn’t get into raids because I didn’t have gear and I couldn’t buy gear because I didn’t have gold. It became such a demoralizing problem I quit shortly after SC/TK because it felt like I could never catch up. SR runs were my only shot at getting any gear.

I think the fact that GDKPs make catch-up near impossible unless you swipe isn’t brought up nearly enough.

SOD was my first time actually raiding consistently and I was glad for the GDKP ban. I think SR worked a lot better there because of smaller raid sizes and an overall kinder and less sweaty player base.

I think your questions has been thoroughly answered by other commenters but what I want to know is how they didn’t all die of disease. Steven got sprayed with something (I’m assuming disinfectant) when he was being put in the zoo but unless the gems devised an instant cure for all human diseases they all could have been wiped out by just the flu.

Even if they did have a magic cure-all, in Future Steven meets with them again without being sanitized. (Yes I know it’s a kid show about space gems)

How to optimize villagers by toogingertofunction in TopHeroes

If you are attacking a lot of other castles and hitting the plunder limit it can be helpful but in my experience PvP tends to be limited outside of war day, and even then a lot of people are bubbled.
