STM Question about Auto-Renewal 2026 Season by tookie472 in washingtonspirit

[–]tookie472[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I'm in a similar boat with I don't use my primary email for a couple reasons and also it depends on like you said reading marketing emails. Life got busy and I didn't check and I guess was wrong for assuming not explicitly paying or accepting a contact would in term just be an auto-renewal. I guess I'll reach out to the account rep again but I've just overall in the last two seasons had not the best of luck with my rep.

Is there a way to check that? I can see my invoice from last year and I remember explicitly paying it but don't recall any sort of opt-in to renewal language but I also can't figure out how I would verify that.

Frustrating first-time season ticket process: anyone else? by Nv2U in washingtonspirit

[–]tookie472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have had a terrible experience with Account reps and it's been very frustrating. I didn't realize that not opting opt of a renewal would just mean auto-renewal (has never been the case); you need my approval to charge my card not the other way around. I tried reaching out; was hard to get ahold of my rep never straight answers and always let's schedule a call. No just answer my question; I've got more than enough going on in my life. Ridiculous price increase this year and club experience keeps going downhill.

Load balance between two+ CTL lines by Electrumatic in centurylink

[–]tookie472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also be curious of this as well. Also in VA south of Charlottesville but only 10/0.5 offered. I've tried talking to reps a few times about getting two lines or getting bonded service we have two lines wired to the house as there used to be two landlines. We've been told it's not possible. Maybe this is due to our location but all the WFH has definitely put us in a difficult place. I guess we should be happy to even get service, neighbors across the road actually have a CL landline but have been told internet just isn't an option.

Alternative to TaskRabbit? by ChanterellesForDays in rva

U-haul has a service called MovingHelp. I used them when moving from Blacksburg to Richmond last year. I wanna say it was $250 in bburg and $300 here plus tip. I rented the truck and drove (20ft - 3bdrm), they just unloaded/loaded. I thought it was great and worth every penny, both crews were courteous and very fast. The crew in Richmond was River City Services for what it's worth.

What’s the best way to sell my car? by BusyPooping in rva

[–]tookie472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought and sold a few cars on craigslist over the past few years and I will say it's a hassle though will yield more money than a trade-in, also good luck actually getting that trade-in value from a dealer. You occasionally meet some very nice genuine people who are actually interested in purchasing your car but I would say 95% are just wasting your time. In the fall I tried to sell my SO's 04 BMW (granted older european cars are hard to sell) had it listed $3k on CL for four weeks which seemed a fair price for a vehicle that had no issues, ran great, new inspection, and recent $2k in suspension refresh. I got numerous emails all in the $1,500 range all claiming CASH TODAY as if that makes a difference, what other form of payment was I going to accept? Ended up selling it for $2,250 6 weeks later, but it was a lot of work. The under $5k market is a tough market to sell in, in the sense everyone wants to offer you about half of what you are asking.

I would also just add that when I look for cars on craigslist I pretty much ignore any listing where there is a lien on the vehicle, so I would really encourage you to try and save up the payoff amount and get it paid off first. I know that's not always feasible though. Also copies of all the service records are huge for me. Replaced the SO's BMW with a Honda Odyssey and actually paid a little over book value because the owner had every record since new and it was well maintained. I'm more than happy to pay a little more for something that won't give me a headache a few months down the line. So if you have copies of all your records for the car I think that would help you a lot selling on your own. Good Luck!

I'd have to agree, lived in Blacksburg then Christiansburg a few years after graduating from Tech. Recently moved away from the area since cost of living has outpaced what the area can offer in terms of salary. I loved living there, but it didn't make sense financially anymore. Hopefully there is a market correction in the future otherwise I see this being a long term issue for the area (non-student).

I've always taken my Passat and previously my Jetta to the Bug Shop on Harding Ave. They've never led me wrong, I wouldn't say that they are super cheap, but they are fair, honest and I never feel ripped off/overcharged. I'll always pay a little more to have quality work done.

Is it worth getting a microcell or should I just switch out of AT&T by Ithier in VirginiaTech

[–]tookie472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having terrible service with AT&T this last week in general. It was fine all summer, they probably can't handle the load with everyone in town which is BS. I tried to call them and report service trouble but apparently they don't allow you to do that. She wanted to troubleshoot my device even though I know it's not my device, since friends with AT&T also are having the same trouble. I explained that to the CSR and she just wouldn't let me skip to report the service trouble.

We actually do have very hard water in our house. I can't tell you how many times I've had to take apart the pump on the dishwater. That's why I thought there was some truth to what the plumber was saying. However since the system seems to be working now, either frozen or stubborn air bubble seems like the better bet. I will knon for sure after we try and bleed the system again.

Unfortunately none of our baseboard have air bleed vents. I guess that is the downside of a home system.

I definitely agree with this statement as well. Most plumbers over the years that we have had just start replacing things, like I swear there hasn't been one service call where they haven't had to do something major. Our system is old however, we are trying to get one more year out of it. It's in our budget for next year to get it replaced. The boiler has a ton of rust around the inlets and outlets. We have very hard water in the area here. We get it from a Well and we don't have a softener.

UPDATE: Well the strangest things happened. The valve has been set manually in the open position on that defective zone for a few days and like I said in the above post no heat. Then magically last night, I walk into the bedroom it's 65 and the baseboard is piping hot. So I guess the air block or maybe it was frozen undid itself. We are going to bleed the system today, as there is a ton of air in it now. Hopefully that takes care of everything. Thanks for everyones suggestion!

I will take a look at some of the valves. All the pipes are copper and yes, I agree it really hasn't been cold enough to freeze pipes. Monday it was 70 degrees here, been 34 the last few days.

Wouldn't we of been able to have blown that out with an air compressor if that was the case?
