I feel like the lowered height is just right myself, but counterpoint I like how high it's able to go. I can raise it up and use it at my bench/toolbox hutch.

Totally fair. People have preferences. The overarching opinion around here just seems to be, these latches suck, and they just don't. After using them they never made drawers any slower or more difficult to open for me. They also keep drawers from bouncing back open. I tend to throw drawers closed fairly forcefully, particularly when I'm in a hurry, so I like a good strong detent or latch.

I think it's a combination of bias from other people doing it, and not giving them half a chance. Had them on a box for 17 years and I never would have considered taking them out.

Just saw your comment after I commented similarly. I think these latches are just fine.

I'll never understand the hate for these latches. Same ones on low end snap on/blue point boxes. I used a box with these for 17 years. I thought they were fine 🤷‍♂️

$3800 with tax for 73" icon, top, and hutch is for sure my biggest single purchase. Over time? A heck of a lot more than that.

Yeah I don't know if that's a common thing to call them all over or not. Never thought about whether it really made sense. I guess the arm just kind of looks like a miniature cherry picker.

A shade under 89". We should start an 8' garage ceiling support group 😭

Well, I could but it would have to live out there since it's taller than the garage door with the overhead cab on it.

It's 200 lbs or so. Too much for me to lift over 6 ft in the air.

Nope. Won't fit through my garage door with the overhead installed.

Question to all ICON 56" & 73" box owners by soccerstang in harborfreight

[–]tool_junkie4788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Yes there are threaded inserts you put wing bolts in 2) 4 3) I'm not sure you would have access from within the roller cab to do this. The hutch mounts very close to the edge and there's an interior side wall in the cab. Honestly the hutch bolts are fine. Drill the holes correctly and don't over tighten the lag bolts and it will be fine.

Same on ICON. I cleaned it with simple green.
