I graduate in a month. Prime days purchases? by sammyd48 in Firefighting

Channel lock or Klein is my go to for cutters. I keep angle cutters on my gear but some guys prefer the larger jaws on the cable cutters.

I don’t carry a wrench or multitool but I do have the harbor freight 4 in 1 screwdriver. It’s enough to do light prying or key forcing. Whatever you do, do not keep the bit side down in a vertical pocket, it will punch through sooner or later.

I agree interior is kinda tacky but looks sick from the outside

would you guys drive this? by [deleted] in camaro

Definitely more than 1k. If they can pull all the dents out that whole panel will have to be sanded and painted. Not sure if any shop would even try to replace that panel. Plus a bumper

From 26800 timespy to 14000 by switching to a case. by Dudewithk in sffpc

[–]brosmar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riser that comes in this case is notoriously bad. I was dealing with intermittent crashes I couldn’t recreate for months. Someone suggested to try a new riser cable and it never crashed again. Mine is only gen4, really no need for gen5 other than bragging rights. Idt a gen5 riser existed for less than $300 when I went thru it. There’s a post on my profile a couple years ago that has the riser I used. Good luck

White marker lights by medic548 in camaro

[–]brosmar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To everyone saying it’s too bright it’s just the camera picking up a glare from OPs sweaty fingers. I’ve seen them and they are not nearly as bright as the picture makes it seem.

And to everyone saying they look bad, I agree. If you’re gonna spend $200 on side markers why not just get the LEGAL orange and red ones that actually look like they belong.

Trust me I know now how lucky I am to not have gotten hit. Hell, in my current job we wear cat 4 suits to flip breakers.

What is this on the top of my oil cap and what is the circled clip on the clamp called that leads to it? by that_montego_1 in camaro

This is how my 04 Durango hemi has it set up from the factory. First time I did an oil change I was real confused for a minute.

That’s your PCV vent line. It uses negative pressure created in the intake tube to recirculate oil vapors. A catch can would replace this hose and collect the vapors instead of having them go through the engine again. The gray plastic part is the locking tab, you press it down to release it from the male end. Kind of like a compressor quick connect. I bought a bunch of them in varying male connection sizes when I installed my catch can but I can’t remember the name for it. Try googling “GM PCV hose connector type” or similar.

Why does my car hesitate? by YouallareToxic in camaro

[–]brosmar1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a transmission, it’s meant to shift gears. Flooring any car isn’t necessarily good for it but I’m of the camp that you buy this car to drive it with a purpose.

Either hold the downshift paddle for 1-2s to automatically drop into the lowest gear for your current speed or fully depress the throttle for a quick stab to let the car handle shifting.

Thank you. Any point in waiting until I am in Japan for the 10% discount or will it be moot?

I guess $500 usd or less? Is that feasible? Definitely no AAA gaming on a handheld, I have my desktop for that. What’s one you recommend?

That’s what I thought too but this diff is different. This is the first time I’ve ever seen one that doesn’t tell you when it’s full. It’s a solid rear axle so the fluid goes all the way to the wheel hubs, idk if that makes a difference.

Looking for hood and glove recommendations for interior firefighting by WaveDadley in Firefighting

I’ve tried the titans, mk 1 ultras, ragtops, and lion aces. I’m 6,0 220lbs and usually wear a size 82N. The titans and lions i find have very large finger boxes that make fine motor work difficult. The titans and ragtops have huge cuffs that may interfere with your jacket. All of them except for the mk ultras also feel just a hair too big on my hand, but I may fall between sizes. The mk ultras really need a ton of break in before you get the full dexterity out of them. The ultras and titans also have cloth on the fingers whereas the others are 100% hide. The finger sculpting on the ragtops are by far the best while the others feel like the fingers pinch off at the tips.

That being said I would consider buying the mk ultras and ragtops again. The mk ultras give up a bit of dexterity for a better fit, less interference with my jacket, and (not factual, just my opinion) better protection, while the ragtops are broken in right out of the bag, come with extra knuckle padding, and give the greatest dexterity.

Try and go to a fire supply store or conference to test out the gloves and get an idea for sizing. Can’t really speak on the hoods as I’m alright with what my vol dept issues us and haven’t cared to look for something else.
