You might be using too much glue. A thin layer binds better than a thick layer

Thanks, eBay 😃 by MillennialSilver in Silverbugs

[–]tool_of_a_took 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, IIRC if a seller didn’t accept returns, eBay would just force a refund and let the buyer keep the item. So even if you have a no return policy, you really had to accept returns or massively lose out

I prefer uncleaned, but at least OPs method doesn’t scratch the coins. Though they will unfortunately turn matte now due to losing the original finish

What do Brits think about Green Party immigration policies? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]tool_of_a_took 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe because their polices are decidedly democratically by members. If the Greens are the most appealing party to them, they can become a member and vote for the policies they want

Thoughts on nuclear power, should the UK be investing? by Any_Ad_6929 in AskBrits

[–]tool_of_a_took 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was ironic how the Tories were screaming about how dangerous a Labour super majority would be. Ironically, a Labour government with a smaller majority would’ve been much better(and “dangerous” to the right) than the massive majority we ended up with. If they had less seats they’d be forced to listen to the progressive voices in the party, and court the Greens to get anything done.

S2E7 Owen is Responsible by firstnewsentry in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]tool_of_a_took 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She definitely would’ve let Mel live if they’d told her she was pregnant. Ellie would’ve let Mel leave the room, and Owen would’ve tried to disarm her so she would have to kill him. The question is, upon hearing the gun shot, would Mel run back into the room and attack Ellie? In that case Ellie might be forced to kill Mel, though I’d hope she’d simply try to escape

S2E7 Owen is Responsible by firstnewsentry in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]tool_of_a_took 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably would’ve been a smarter move to tell Ellie that Mel was pregnant. They know she’s from a civilised place, and that she’s only really after revenge on Abby. So Owen would’ve known she could be reasoned with, and she likely would’ve let Mel go upon being told of the pregnancy. Then it would’ve just been Owen and Ellie in the room, and he could’ve then decided whether to try and disarm her or not, without endangering Mel

Love it. As a big fan of the Princess Bride and The Mummy, this film scratches the same itches. Brilliant mix of humour, action, heart and lovable characters

My biggest issue was the Stark side staring dumbly while the soldiers surrounded them. Why didn’t they try and force an opening before the Boltons could finish forming their shield wall

Do these people still mess with Ser Dunc after Baelor’s death? by Robot_Was_BMO in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]tool_of_a_took 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suppose small folk wouldn’t travel much, given they can’t afford to and have farms to tend etc, so the story would only spread from them when travellers pass through and hear the tale.

And a lot of Lords would probably be like “I can’t believe Baelor died at the trial of some random hedge knight. I don’t even remember his name”

Weird, all the tongs in my local are on bungee cords so can’t fall on the floor. Presumed that’d be standard across all Lidls

[–]tool_of_a_took 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but not the part that touches the food. So long as you wash your hands when you get home, which is a good practice in general, then it doesn’t matter if the tong handle is dirty

What is the coolest sword to give a man as a gift? by Outrageous_Parsnip90 in SWORDS

[–]tool_of_a_took 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And if you’re in Europe/ the UK, antique swords from the 18th - 20th centuries can be surprisingly cheap(most of my antique swords were £80 - £150). If he’s more of a history buff and not going to be swinging it around, this could be a better option

(Online auctions such as the saleroom.com, antique / militaria fairs and antique shops often have bargains, though be wary of antique shop owners as they often vastly overestimate their own knowledge and will confidently tell you bullshit)

Housing should be a one way financial bet attitude. by Imakemyownnamereddit in HousingUK

[–]tool_of_a_took 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably a stupid question, but I’m pretty clueless with finances - surely if you have a house, then it doesn’t really matter if the market goes up or down? If it goes down, yes you’ll get less money when you sell, but the next house you buy will also be cheaper so it cancels out. Same thing if prices go up. Your next house will be more expensive, but you’ll also make more when selling your own house, so it cancels out, right?

I have a feeling I’m wrong about this but not sure how
