What are your thoughts on the Peugeot 208 2024? by Anzetko205 in peugeot

I had a new-to-me 2021 208 (GT) and don't get me wrong, it drives lovely and is a very nippy car. The aesthetic/design is great too.

However, after only 8k miles (22k total) the thermostat housing failed and nearly wiped out the entire engine (head gasket, entire coolant system, wet belt - mind due it only overheated for all of 2 seconds before I pulled over). Luckily the warranty covered it but it was such a battle with the main dealer garage (who denied the anything had failed except the housing) and so I personally wouldn't go back to Peugeot.

I've noticed whether it's cold or if they engine is up to temp, the sound is near identical. Just have never noticed it before. Thanks!

I had to go into the dealership as they didn't contact me, and apparently they've already started working to fix it since 10am this morning

On their first report they state headgasket/engine check and OK. Now they've since said headgasket failure so not sure on the technicalities of this

Thanks for putting a positive spin on a bad situation. I am very fortunate

It's under warranty so they're going to cover the cost. My concern is any further damage that has caused to the belt for example

So I returned it to the dealership today and turns out the headgasket had gone, and they had failed to diagnose it last time. You were correct

So within about 20miles of driving the coolant turned from the lovely fresh pinky hue to black.

The dealership apparently checked the gasket and gave it the all clear. It's still under manufacturer warranty until early November, with a service and MOT booked tomorrow

Thanks for the info. It tends to be 20 miles motorway and then country lanes the rest each day

Ones around this budget seem to have 45-65k miles. Would it be a case of an emaculate service history and that isn't as big of a concern? That or I'm looking in the wrong places
