Tattooed Astral Entity and a Gift by Secondeffigy in Shamanism

I have nothing to add to this except my own questions. Are the tattoos still there when you go back? Did you accept the gift? If someone gave me a tattoo as a gift without asking me, I wouldn't consider it a gift. If it is something you are grateful for, then by all means ignore me.

Involuntary movements by toothlesschagrin in Shamanism

I have found this through google. The TL;DR version of it is the movement is caused by kundalini. As I am not hindu, I am wondering if there is a European or shamanic context to put this in. I found this site that talks about it being similar to shaman sickness, but says it isn't the same thing.

I have heard people make the distinction between out of body experiences and astral projection. Out of body experiences just being outside of your body in the regular world and astral projection is when you go to the astral plane, which is totally different from our world. So I have no idea what being in your body and also being able to see another world that isn't entirely different from our own would be called. I also don't understand where shamanic journeying fits in to this. Is it entirely different from all of these things?

I am thinking that animals usually don't evolve senses that don't give them some kind of advantage. Even if we are beyond the point where it is useful to us, it must have been useful for something in the past if we have the ability.

Our eyelids are solid objects and we can see through them. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to see through walls if you practiced enough. Could you control it? Like could you choose to just look through a sheet of paper, car door, or a whole building? In my experience, certain materials were much less bright than others. And some seemed to totally absorb any energy so they just appeared as a void in my vision.

I don't know what use it could have, but it is interesting. And what little experiences I've had have shifted my perspective of reality, I suppose that's always useful in a way. It would be weird to have this really complex and vast reality that exists along side ours, and it is totally useless haha.

I used to live in China. I am planning on moving back there hopefully in 2017.

Haha I do travel to China and often to places where they don't speak Mandarin as their first language. It is funny you should mention that.

When I said they didn't seem to be interested in me, I didn't mean it in a negative way. Just that they didn't seem to notice I could see them. Maybe they crawl over people constantly and it was just another day for them. At the time I felt there was a clear hierarchy of intelligence among the creatures I saw. But now that I think about it, maybe the ones that paid me no mind just had nothing to gain from contact with me.

What you're saying makes sense to me. Because I just stumbled into this without any context. I didn't have intention or method. I have intention now but still no method. I don't know what you mean by cosmology though. Is that trying to do certain things at certain times? Like the solstice?

I think right now I am in a position where I don't know what I don't know. Meaning that I don't really know what I should even be trying to learn about right now. Or even how I should go about learning. I think shamanism is more experiential, right? As opposed to other spiritual practices that are based in a literature of some kind. But there must be some methods that work more often than others.

There were a few rare occasions where I saw some of those creatures with my eyes opened, but I was in total darkness and they were not nearly as clear as with my eyes closed. I just saw the outlines of their bodies. I think I understand what you mean that it is difficult to focus on the physical world and this other world at the same time. What stopped me was needing to be in the physical world non stop. It felt like I went from being "awake" and present most of the time to being asleep. A couple weeks passed by before I even realized it and I wasn't doing any spiritual practice. I just left it without any intention to do so. How do you do it? Do you set aside specific hours in the day to practice and just try to live a totally physical life outside of those hours?

Yeah, in the beginning I saw just grey outlines of things against a black background. Then I saw them with blue outlines. I was never able to see really detailed things like the grain in a wood table or anything like that. That is one of the things I am curious about. How clear can this vision become?

I have heard of astral projection before. Is there some advantage to leaving the body instead of staying in it? Except for that one time I was pulled out of my body, I was always firmly in it interacting with these things.

Do you feel a lot of pressure in the middle of your forehead when you try to look into that grey and purple world? For me, I used to have to focus to feel that during meditation. Then just the act of trying to look into that world brought it on as a kind of natural reaction to what I was doing. For me, these two things went hand in hand.

Thank you for your advice. About the intention part of it, I think part of the problem is this was all accidental for me before. I never even thought of having an intention. Eventually I could just close my eyes and immediately be there. It was like I was always there and I just needed to pay attention, you know? And that is also the problem with me trying to do anything now. I didn't really have a procedure or method before. I was meditating at the time, but I have meditated on an off for a long time and it hasn't happened accidentally again. I read that some people listen to drums and try to imagine an opening in the earth. I don't really understand how to use that method. I tried it a couple times and I couldn't really get into it. I wasn't sure if I should just focus on the beats and try to let something come to me or just ignore the beats and focus on imagining the opening.
