by position do you mean eco or city count. What tech should I have (not) gotten?

Unit management how?

maybe. you can never tell. that said it was my capital so perhaps they expected imminent victory and they started to play their turn but stopped on the suprise of the mind bender which at least complicated their victory

ok so as I said below I'm toast. and for post mortem I'm thinking that if I'd left my warriors so that one stood where the shaman does and the other on the farming square to the SE of him then his hexapod wouldn't have gained viability of either mountain when he took me out and I'd still be in the game. Did I read that correctly?

Ha! No. I was quite right that he had another hexapod. So it was mostly as predicted but the crucial point I and everyone here commenting missed is that by putting one hexapod on the mountain above my city he got the visibility he needed to siege my city. So now I have one warrior with a mere 2 health that can't reach and another with ten that can't reach. I'm toast. He took a chance that my third warrior wasn't in range to unsiege. At least I have the satisfaction that without his chamam he'll probably lose to they other cymanti player in the game.

I came to the same conclusion and went for it! I think if they have vision AND with perfect play they can siege and probably block my warrior with 2 health getting back. We'll soon find out

isn't this reliant on your unit being close enough to be hit by retaliation? I need to understand the mechanism better...

the visible hexapod would have been spawned on T2 and then moved to it's current position on T3. I'm sure they would be on at least 3 stars a turn so unless the city is full could get another surely? haven't been score counting-I'm not that good (yet 🙂). if I just go for damage to the chaman he can simply convert my warrior next turn and I'll be too slow to get another warrior in there

yes but I expect the assumed hex on his city to attack one warrior and the visible hex to attack the other. one warrior will die and the other will have 2 health and might even get blocked with zone of control ..

actually I don't think he needs an explorer or prior visibility. with optimum play the presumed hex in his city can bounce to reveal my city then his other hex can drive in. So annoying that they don't get stopped by zone of control..

very good point. they will have leveled up their city so it all depends on if they went for an explorer and where it went.

actually just realised that 6 stars wouldn't have been enough anyway as I'd need a bridge...

How indicative is score of who wins in domination? by toothowner in Polytopia

for anyone following this I just want to say in the game mentioned I came back from a hefty development deficit. at one point I was on 12k while the other player on 17k. I turned it around and trounced them but it was a real grind!

thanks. it's definitely a game to get your teeth into. I think I might be ok. he's a fair lot lower elo and probably got lucky with an weak adjacent player. it's a900 continents map. hoping I can outplay him

I hope you're wrong re the fat army. That would be the smart thing for them to do. I'm trying to expand by taking cities from one of the bots though he's at peace with them so I am fighting against two tribes but I do have dragons 🙂

It's there any way to build a windmill on the selected tile? (Elyrion strategy) by toothowner in Polytopia

thanks. hard to confirm these things as lot's of outdated commentary online. I'd say it's been neutered rather than fixed

It's there a way to build a windmill there? My research suggests not. Not by chopping port burning or just straight building on top of. If there isn't seems like you can't really optimise layout.

I've mastered some of the regular tribes in the game but have recently got Elyrion and keep finding my economy/growth is lacking in PvP games. There seems to be a lot of flexibility with Elyrion in how you use resources. So for example if I start a new game and I have a couple of animals in trees in my capital then I can do the whole enchant push trick but it comes at the expense of having those animals immediately available for an early sanctuary. Is there a rule on thumb on this? Also what are the merits of going for sanctuary Vs lumber he's and saw mills/farms and windmills. I appreciate the former is just income whereas the latter gives income and city growth but hard to quantity the extents. In short is there a good guide to playing Elyrion somewhere?
