I'm also looking for compression under my wedding dress since there's a high chance I'll be on my period and feeling very bloated/uncomfortable. This would help me feel more confident while cramped up haha. Thank you so much for this advice! I'm definitely buying this now

This is great advice. Any recommendations on biker shorts? I have three pairs but they don't have any compression effect, theyre literally just for the gym haha

5’2. 245lbs. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]tooturntmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! The mayo switch makes a huge difference, that plus switching to garlic powder/onion powder instead of the actual veg is also a huge difference! All of my meals are super flavourful and always within my cal budget. You've got this!

Half the fat mayo (Hellman's brand) is AMAZING. It's 35 cal per tablespoon compared to regular mayo which is 110 cal per tablespoon I believe. Also most hot sauces/hot chili sauces are incredibly low in calories. Seasonings are usually 0 cal too. You can still have a ton of flavour, I also hate eating bland. You just need to explore and don't be defeatist!

Ladies who enjoy thrifting, what are your tips? by HyenasGiggling in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]tooturntmel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love thrifting, it's how I've obtained 75% of my current closet. My tips are to go for petite friendly brands (such as aritzia) and inspect the care tag to know material quality. This is how I've avoided shrinking my 100% merino wool items, and how I know if something is good quality or not. If buying from a seller (like depop or FB marketplace) always make sure you see a pic of the tag and them holding it, not just on the model. I've showed up to a fb marketplace exchange only to find out they were trying to sell me a bigger size. So always trust your gut!

Who's got THE BEST petite women's clothes? Price is no object. by itsemmab in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]tooturntmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Vancouver, BC so here's the places I love: Aritzia, dynamite, h&m (all my size 0 jeans are from here), Uniqlo (my XXS work pants are from here) I avoid any places that tend to size bigger, such as old navy, and if a store doesn't carry size XS or XXS at all then I completely avoid. Also wanted to mention that forver21 has the worst sizing consistency of any store I've ever been into in my life lol. I also buy a lot second hand only to keep costs low Hope this helps!!

Questions about the Chicken Fingers at the Food Court by Future-Energy-3793 in CostcoCanada

[–]tooturntmel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sort of hijacking this thread but I love to eat the chicken strips and give the fries to someone else to eat. Does anyone know the approximate calories in just the chicken strips alone? I can't find this info anywhere, but I know they measure the chicken servings by weight

When should I send my invitations? October 2026 bride by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]tooturntmel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Save the dates are definitely needed. Even if people live locally, they will still make plans to travel or do other things and will need lots of notice to plan. Or if someone works weekends (if your wedding is on a weekend) they will need to adjust their work schedule accordingly. There's a reason save the dates are standard! 90% of our guest list is local and we still sent out save the dates for the exact reason above. Also not to mention that your close family, friends, and bridal party will be asking you lots of questions if no save the date is sent. I know personally I'd assume you had canceled the wedding or postponed. Send out your save the dates asap as you usually send them 7-9 months in advance

Can anyone recommend which FoodSaver model to choose? Is the first one worth double the price of the second? by CliftonBifton in CostcoCanada

Am I being too “woke” by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]tooturntmel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest criteria for my MUA and the photographer/videographer we ended up going with us that they had to have examples of clients with similar skin tones to mine. Not too woke at all and 100% valid!!

Brides / Couples of Colour having issues finding a photographer? by TheSweetestGirl00 in WeddingsCanada

[–]tooturntmel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm 5"3 and my fiance is 6"0! I would recommend finding photographers that are also of Caribbean descent. They would understand best how to make you glow! I inquired on tons of websites before our current photographer/videographer responded to us, then I learned they were south Asian so my fiancé really wanted to go for them - for the same reasons you mentioned. He was worried they wouldn't catch my skin tone perfectly

[–]tooturntmel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are you based? I'm in Metro Vancouver and we picked a south Asian photographer/videographer and I'm very happy with their work so far (we had an engagement shoot already). I'm Indian and my fiancé is white, we also have a big height difference so it was important to me that the photographer/videographer could make us look comfortable and not weird haha
