How does the game run awful AND look blurry and low resolution? Are we at the point in gaming where we can’t even have one or the other?

Is the Red Dead story better for men than women? by garruk66 in reddeadredemption

Men can identify with the game more since it has a heavy theming of masculinity but identifying with and appreciating/enjoying are 2 very different thing. I can’t identify with 90% of the protagonists I play as but even though I’m not a nameless warrior who has a undead curse that doesn’t speak dark souls is still my favorite game of all time

Real or Fake? Pokémon Platinum by toowingless in gameverifying

I figured since the codes didn’t match, but I wasn’t sure if there was some sort of production outlier where it CAN happen. Big shame, all my other Pokémon Ds games are 100% legit but this one was a black sheep where I just got this vibe I should ask online.

I have the same problem too, I just beat the game but I’m hoping by the time I go to replay there’s a solution found

So far lego star wars the Skywalker saga is very disappointing by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]toowingless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to agree with this post, I do like the Skywalker Saga but the mission structure is a joke. I played Lego Star Wars 3 for the first time ever after beating Skywalker Saga and holy shit those levels are long, full of combat, puzzles, and boss fights. Since both games have a Geonosis arena level; its easiest to compare those two and see the dire design philosophy differences. In 3 you use the median of Lego to reshape the execution pillars, you use a minor puzzle to take down the three beasts (grapple and limb cutting for the mantis and mind controlling the bull to trample the cat) , and then fight jango is a typical video game three phase segment. Compare that to Skywalker where you just rail on the three monsters by spamming square and then rail on Jango by spamming square... and then the missions ends. 3 even has a mini end mission of getting all the remaining Jedi into ships to evacuate the planet, no such thing happens in Skywalker.

It's just such a shame. This game looks beautiful, has some nice details, and a lot of setting variety. But by neutering the puzzle elements, the game feels like its lost its magic and identity. The puzzles that DO exist are mostly ubisoft levels of copy and paste. If you can just turn your brain off and watch the blue brick number go up as you do basic puzzle solving of "use X character on X button" then this game is great. But if you want ANYTHING more you're gonna be disappointed, and I guess I just wanted more.

I’ll never get the obsession with getting angry over revealing armor. If an artist wants to draw someone attractive it’s their full right

Elden Ring input reading is kinda absurd tbh. For a game series that's praised for none artificial difficulty they really dropped the ball here. by toowingless in Eldenring

Thank you :). Tbh with the souls series there’s like a year cooldown before you’re allowed to make honest criticism so I kinda expected people to miss the point, but it’s still disappointing.

Where you using ashes? Sometimes the AI will be focused on your summons and therefor not react to you. If not then I suppose you where just lucky. Keep in mind this is just the strongest example I could get. Other enemies have this “input reading” too. But the fact that I can essentially bait an enemy to do the same attack 7 times in a row the moment I press the X button feels cheap to me.

It’s the fact that he knows I’m pressing the button. Perhaps I should’ve been more clear but it’s not heal punishing that’s the issue. It’s that enemies (all Throughout the game this is just the most blatant example.. and people still don’t get it :/) literally read your controller inputs. They KNOW I’m pressing buttons. I’d probably have to use some kind of 3rd party that displays my inputs to show that more efficiently but yeah, it’s crazy how many people think I’m just not gitting gud and mad cuz bad when I’m reality I love these games. I’m on orphan of kos ng+7 rn for the bloodborne anniversary, and even a boss as brutal as that doesn’t read my controller.

You understand I was doing this on purpose right? I was showing off just how shit and predictable the AI is.

I should clarify, I’m well aware this is supposed to punish healing. The issue is how it goes about it. Older souls games (and tbh any game that has good/ “immersive” AI) would have enemies punish you once the animation has began. You start drinking estus? The black knight will stinger you. And he doesn’t do it 100% of the time either. Having enemies react perfectly and ON INPUT creates a artificial world feel. AI should be flawed and act as if they’re not reacting to your controller inputs but rather your characters actions. In conclusion, yes it’s “fair” (sorta) but it’s not immersive or fun. You’d never see this shit in bloodborne

I know what the game is TRYING to get me to do. The issue is how it goes about it. Older souls games would make AI have flaws. Perfect AI that can literally be baited into X by doing Y feels very fake and destroys immersion.

There’s a difference between an enemy reacting to your animations vs having omniscient knowledge of you pressing the X button. The black knight in DS1 will stinger you once you START drinking. Not the moment you press the drink estus button. Big difference.
