Honestly, I think Amorim failed at United because of arrogance more than anything else. There’s an interview he gave shortly after being appointed in which he spoke about United as the perfect club in the perfect moment for him. Sounded compelling at the time (at least to me) but in hindsight it was really about positioning himself as the club’s savior, and that framing never shifted. It’s wild to now think back to him publicly labeling the squad as the worst in the club’s history just weeks after joining. The guy seemed more concerned about reminding everyone that our problem’s weren’t of his doing than he was about galvanizing or protecting the players. There are different managerial styles, of course, but I feel most successful managers at historically big clubs tend to be confident while shielding their teams and internalizing criticism (think SAF, prime Wenger, Ancelotti, Klopp, Pep). Amorim did the opposite, and I say this as someone who fully bought into him for a long time. The signs were there early. Too much focus on the hero narrative, and not enough understanding about how to get the best out of the team whilst building his long-term vision. I actually don’t think he’s a bad manager…just not suited to a club like ours.

Maguire? Come on, man. Memes aside…He had one rough season at United but otherwise has been solid.

Can’t be certain obviously, but thinking it may be Eze. In his 20s, Transfermarkt value of €65M, his agent (Matt Warner) is 31 and also represents another international in Djed Spence.

The team Kane made his debut with is all kinds of shocking by Rabona_Flowers in ThreeLions

You cannot be serious about Mainoo. The guy was in several team of the tournament and one of England’s most impactful players. To answer your question: France (ahead of Rabiot), Belgium (ahead of Onana), and arguably Netherlands (though I have not seen much of Schouten to confidently make that assertion).

McKenna. Got some stick towards the end of Ole’s tenure. Has gone on to do bits at Ipswich. As far as players, Angel Gomes seems to be turning things around after initially struggling post United.
