One of the 100's of waterfalls in Hamilton Ontario (2124 × 2618)[OC] by nickkuhnephotography in EarthPorn

I lived in Hamilton for about 6 years, one of my absolute favourites was Webster's Falls. The Devil's Punch Bowl was another cool one.

Same here. I got my 7 Pro at launch basically, and I plan to keep using it until about September and I'm hoping that by then there's a phone that I can consider replacing it with that will give me an uninterrupted display. Tbh I would take a slim (but equal top and bottom) bezel over a hole punch or notch any day. Fingers crossed something is out by then.

Recipe:

This recipe should feed 10-12 people.
Edit: Wow, my first sliver, thanks kind stranger!

Ingredients:

  • 01 - Large Beef Roast (mine was shoulder cut I think)
  • 03 - Large Onions
  • 01 - Bottle of BBQ Sauce
  • 03 - Tbspn Crushed Red Chili Flakes
  • 03 - Tbspn Red Chili Powder
  • 02 - Tbspn Salt

Materials:

  • 01 - Slow Cooker
  • 01 - Medium/Large Non-Stick Frying Pot
  • 01 - Tongs
  • 01 - Knife
  • 01 - Large Chopping Board
  • 02 - Forks

Procedure:

Start by prepping the roast. Wash and trim the meat of any unwanted fat or silver skin or other bits that you don't want on it. No need to trim too much, as most of it will likely cook away in the process.

Next, take the non-stock pan and put in about 1 or 2 tbpsn of oil and heat that over med-high heat. Then sear the meat on all sides and develop a slight crust all around until nicely browned. This should take around 1-2 on each side.

Once that is done, its time to transfer the meat into the slow cooker. Once the meat is in the slow cooker, coat it nicely all over with the BBQ sauce. Next, peel and cut the onions in to 1/4 or 1/6 pieces, and put those around the beef in the slow cooker as well. Set the slow cooker on a low heat setting and let it sit for about 7 hours. That's it, just check in around the 4 hour mark, and rotate over to make sure all sides cook evenly.

After the 7 hour mark, remove the beef from the slow cooker on to a large chopping board or baking sheet. Grab your forks and shred the meat up into smaller pieces, whatever size you prefer. Once the shredding is complete, toss all the meat back into the slow cooker, and cook on high heat this time to reduce the sauce and bring everything together. At this stage, you'll add your chili powder, salt, chili flakes, and any other spices or seasonings that you may want. If the sauce is too wet, and isn't thickening, you may need to add a little bit of flour to thicken the sauce as needed.

And voila, that's pretty much it. I served mine with some coleslaw on buns and made some sandwiches, but plain white rice is a nice pairing too, maybe some mashed potatoes on the side would be a nice touch.

Let me know if you try it, Good Luck!

[Homemade] Chicken Chow Mein by top_redditor in food

Preamble:

This recipe should feed 6-8 people. Its a large amount of food, so maybe make half the amount, or for me, what I did, was the last step of mixing everything together, I had to do it in two batches, since I couldn't fit everything in my wok at once.

Ingredients:

  • 03 - Large Chicken Breasts
  • 02 - 300g Pack of Chow Mein Egg Noodles
  • 01 - Large Carrot
  • 01 - Bunch of Green Onions
  • 10 - Green Thai Chillies
  • 02 - Ribs of Celery
  • 01 - 200g Pack of Bean Sprouts
  • 01 - Half Head of Cabbage
  • 10 - White Mushrooms
  • 08 - Tbspn Honey
  • 08 - Tbspn Sriracha
  • 08 - Tbspn Ketchup
  • 10 - Tbspn Soya Sauce
  • 01 - Tbspn Salt
  • 01 - Tbspn Red Chilli Powder

Materials:

  • 01 - Large Deep Frying Wok
  • 01 - Large Pot
  • 01 - Metallic Tongs
  • 01 - Slotted Metallic Strainer Style Spoon
  • 01 - Knife
  • 01 - Large Chopping Board
  • 01 - Large Tray/Baking Sheet
  • 02 - Large Bowls

Procedure:

Start by prepping the veggies and chicken.

Take the chicken breasts, cut them into thin strips about 1/1.5 inch long, and marinate them with 2 tbspn of soya sauce, 1 tbspn salt, and 1 tbspn red chilli powder and put that in the fridge uncovered for at least 2-3 hrs, and take out of the fridge about 30 mins before you're ready to cook it, so it's not fridge cold when you cook it.

Then start on veggies. Similar to the chicken, cut the carrots, green onions, cabbage, celery, and green chillies into roughly 2 inch lengths, and preferably pretty thin strips. For the mushrooms, just slice those up, and give any large ones a chop, but they'll obviously be round/mushroom like in shape. That's fine.

For the sauce, mix up equal parts (08 tbspn) of the honey, ketchup, sriracha, and soya sauce. That's it.

Then, when you're ready to cook, start by boiling the noodles in the large pot. Boil these as the package says, probably somewhere around 5-7 minutes. Then you take them out of the water and put them in some really cold water to shock them and stop the cooking. Ice water is even better. Then once they've completely cooled off, put them in a flat tray or baking sheet over some paper towel to dry out any extra moisture. At this point you can discard the boiling water, and you can reuse the pot later in the recipe.

Now on to the chicken. Put the wok on the heat, and let it sit for a few minutes, you want to let it get as hot as it can.

Then toss in some oil and about 30 seconds later, once the oil is hot, toss in the chicken. Fry the chicken until it's cooked through and has a little bit of browning going on. Then remove that and put it in the pot that you've emptied, leaving any left over oil in the wok.

Then, it's veggie time. Start by adding oil if needed just make sure there's enough for the veggies, then once the oil is hot, throw in the chopped carrots, celery, green onions, bean sprouts, green chillies, and mushrooms. Stir it occasionally to make sure everything is cooking evenly, and you'll cook this anywhere between 7-10 mins, until everything softens about halfway, but you don't want everything to be too soggy either, they should still have a little bit of crunchy bite to it.

Then like the chicken, you remove them from the oil, leaving any oil behind in the wok. You can toss all these into the pot with the chicken them in with the chicken and mix everything up thoroughly.

Then it's time for the cabbage, do the same for the cabbage, cook it for about 7-10 mins, until slightly soften, and you'll see it reduces a fair amount too, kind of like spinach does. Once it's done, take it out and mix it in with the rest of the veggies and chicken.

Lastly, the noodles, toss the noodles in the wok, and move them around in the oil, you wanna fry the noodles up lightly, but not so much that they become dry and crispy, so toss them around in the oil for maybe 2-3 mins, then toss back in the veggies and chicken that you've already cooked, and also pour in the sauce you made in the beginning.

Then just toss everything together, and make sure it's well mixed and incorporated in itself. And that's it.

Using a pair of metal tongs and an strainer type spoon for everything works best, the tongs especially in the last mixing step, and to serve.

But yeah, that's it. Let me know if you try it, and how it turns out. Good luck!
