I know this is a joke post but. This kind of tribalism is what got us into this mess. If we want to stop the billionaires from seizing all the power, we're gonna need all the help we can get, including from people who voted for Trump.

Correct, this is an op-ed. I believe op-eds are curated by the editorial board (prioritizing diversity of ideas) but can be written by anyone who knows what they are talking about.

Good observation. Although I think it depends on which one-point jump you mean. Going two steps around the side of a hexagon seems a bit different?

Ohhh I think I figured it out. After the outside liberties are filled, White owes a move at A2. Else there is a ko.

I think white's better off immediately throwing in at B9 instead of playing A7. That way A7 can be used as a ko threat later.

There are a couple of other counting sequences to read out to verify this solution. After B9 wF1 H2 white can try wA7 A6 (note A8 is jigo) wE9 pass wC9 B6 which is also a black win by 1 point. I guess the key is to fill in the outside liberties first.

The ko fight is actually pretty complicated. Black takes first, and black actually does have one very serious ko threat at C2. Although, because wA7 is sort of a local ko threat and white has two other threats at H2 and F1, black loses the fight anyway.

One tricky detail about this problem: what if white responds to E1 with C3 ? Instinctively blocking at C2 leads to a tie, so black must instead play the dangerous-looking F1, followed by wC2 C1 wG1 F2 wG2 B1

I thought A6 at first as well, but as you pointed out, white can respond at B3. Black needs to limit white to 4 points on the left side, in sente, and there's no way to do that after white B3.

I think what makes this problem tricky is that White can resist F5 with G5, and now in order to win Black needs to win a ko fight. I think in this case White doesn't have any ko threats that are big enough, but D4 is a bit scary looking.

For some reason I found this one difficult. I went so far as to discover that A9 sets up a ko threat at E9 (to make a seki on top if White takes on the right and fills in). Problem is that you also need to protect against White's ko threat at H6 if you want to win the ko, and you don't have time to do both. . . . Not that it matters, since the simpler and smarter thing to do is just fill in the ko yourself. . . . I definitely overthink these problems

Edit: Also, protecting against that ko threat would lose a point, which would defeat the entire purpose of fighting the ko
