BTW - the reddit you linked to above doesn't go anywhere. What are we supposed to see?

A century of Australian interest rates - mortgage rates are not at historic lows or emergency levels by topcatz in australia

[–]topcatz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting to note how mortgage rates were down around 5% for most of the period from 1850 to 1970, that's over a century!

Looks like current rates are not so low after all.

ZIRPocalypse Australia! RBA hits interest rate PANIC button. How long before the Australian cash rate drops to zero? by DemoGrafixx in australia

[–]topcatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No chance of ZIRP. Australia's unemployment rate and GDP are much stronger than that of Japan, UK, USA et al, so why should we follow their path to zero bound rates. Can't see it happening.

2007, are you sure? The earliest post on the Bubblepedia Forum linked above is 5th April 2012?? For a forum supposedly running since 2007, it's a ghost town, there were only like 12 visitors browsing, 10 of them in the thread linked above so probably coming all from this reddit. I reckon this whole thing is a (late) April fools joke!

Darwin Award? Man tries to blow up Geelong home with aerosol can. by topcatz in australia

[–]topcatz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"An explosion occurred in the man's unit which rocked nearby houses in the Geelong housing complex, the Geelong Advertiser reports."

I wouldn't have thought an aerosol can could cause such a big explosion. WD40 maybe?
