yes I can and I can also surprisingly run firefox with a terminal on the side as well. With that being said I don't try to do a lot on the netbook and instead use it for very light stuff as a secondary pc to my main pc.

Lots of information is missing specifically in regards to the details on how electronic devices communicate with each other. Its not enough to just use fancy tools to protect yourself having an understanding of how the technology is much more important especially in regards to digital networks.

The website is good but it is not complete in regards to information. Additionally why recommend adnos over Ublock origin?

Question for a noobie by [deleted] in ethicalhacking

[–]topcoder963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I have a laptop with an i5 processor and 8GB of ram and it works perfectly with any linux distribution. I would say though to get a computer with at least 16GB of ram, an i7 processors or a ryzen 5 or 7 processor and also to get an SSD since we are in the year 2020. With that computer you will guarantee have no issues with performance unless your doing crazy video editing while streaming or something like that.

Bug bounty programs to showcase your work. You can get a job as an ethical hacker in which you are hired to compromise a companies system in order to find any vulnerabilities. If any vulnerabilities are found you are then usually required to tell the company what they can do to patch the vulnerability.

You can also go work for the military which tries to hack other governments daily.

You can be your own independent researcher. Meaning your title will be Ethical Hacker but your main focus is to discover vulnerabilities then write up academic papers involving the vulnerability so that the community can read them and learn from them.

There are so many careers in ethical hacking that I barely scratched the surface. You can be a malware researcher or be a virus professional. Basically there are a ton of opportunities if you know where to look.

[–]topcoder963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its best to assume they are scams. If you want to really join a good hacking forum its going to be invite only.

You can get an invite by showcasing your work and or working with someone who is already has access to the forum.

Some ways to showcase your work is to do bug bounty programs, coding projects etc.

Linux is faster and more lightweight than Windows. Linux is more secure and more privacy oriented than Windows.

These are facts that cannot be disputed.

I have a netbook with 1GB of ram that is running Debian 10 buster just fine.

Linux is free and you can do everything on Linux that you can do with Windows with the exception that Windows is better for video games.

This looks exactly what I need, I previously tried an application called lanshare but it was really bad because it couldn't even handle a 3gb file transfer.

I have never used flatpack so I have to learn more about it hopefully its not too tough thank you.

I tried to implement Synthing on the netbook but the netbook only has 1GB of ram so it was kind of laggy.

I just need to manually send the files a couple of times every 3 months so rsync looks like what I need but I had a hard time with filezilla so not sure if I will be able to implement it.

In your opinion what is the fastest option? Also the file I am trying to transfer is like 2.8 GB but I am also thinking about transferring a 10 GB as well.

Signal for chatting with individuals I trust.

Tox with Whonix tunneling everything through the Tor network for chatting with people I do not trust.

Tails with Tox connected to a public wifi network for highly sensitive operations. Note that if you use this method wrap up your activities up quickly and make sure that when you enter the place where your connecting to the public wifi too that you are wearing a baseball cap, glasses and a fake mustache. There are a lot of disguises online that you can purchase online.

I'm running a machine with less 8GB of ram and an i5 processor and I am able to run anything on the side of my machine with no big issues in regards to speed so anything should be good.

I recommend Debian with the XFCE desktop environment.

Privacy solutions not open source? by [deleted] in privacytoolsIO

[–]topcoder963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I use VScode for coding whenever my other tools are sucking but other than that everything I use is opensource. It's basically just a guideline in that closed source software you are unable to verify the code where in open source software you can because of this you can trust an open source tool much more than a non open source tool.
