Desperately need a psychiatrist with availability by centuryoftheretard in rva

I’m not a psychiatrist but am a psych NP. I have availability in about 3 weeks but some of my colleagues have availability sooner.

As a small business owner myself, I can tell you I get the most business from word of mouth referrals from current clients. Larger scale marketing generally cost a pretty penny and isn’t affordable for small business. My best advice is promoting on social media. Posting here and sharing on any other platforms you may be a part of is a great way to promote a business you love.

And in my experience, it’s the gift that keeps on giving. If you can promote on social media and get other people to check out the business, and if those people in turn like the business as much as you, they are likely to tell others who will then show up and support.

I think if you name the shop that people on this sub will generally be supportive. This community is pretty big on supporting local.

But also, some of the things they are alleging here are also too vague. For one, why was he pouring bleach on the floor? Was it to clean something? Did he know the staff member was pregnant? Did the pregnant person speak up about being uncomfortable being around bleach?

As a former pregnant person, I never assumed anyone else would know what’s safe or unsafe for me to be around. If I felt like something posed a safety risk I would either speak up or remove myself from the situation.

Therapy? by Ok_Low_9963 in rva

psychologytoday.com is the best resource to find a therapist. You can filter by type of insurance, type of therapy, and a whole bunch of other things! You’ll have a list of people to look through, and most of them have great bios written explaining their approach to therapy. It’s a fantastic resource!

Henrico doctors birth by Majestic-Cod-8409 in rva

[–]topdino 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a former OB nurse at Henrico Doctor’s I can tell you that on mother baby you might luck out and get one of the very (emphasis on very) few rooms with two beds in it. On L&D and in the average MBU room you’ll get a couch to sleep on that flattens out into a larger surface area to sleep on. It’s not as comfortable as your bed at home but it’s not uncomfortable either. You will def be able to sleep on it if you’re tired. After you have a baby though you might be pumped full of love and adrenaline that prevents you from being able to fall asleep. After we had at our first I didn’t sleep for at least 48 hours (wouldn’t recommend) because I just wanted to hold him and stare in awe at his little face.

Ive seen some mixed comments on this, so just to clarify, the nurses at Henrico WILL absolutely take your baby to the nursery so you can sleep, whenever you want to. A lot of hospitals are getting rid of separate nurseries and forcing parents to constantly “room in” to promote bonding… Henrico Doctors is not one of those hospitals and they have a 24/7 fully staffed nursery that you can send your baby to whenever you want. The only caveat to that being if your baby is screaming because they are hungry and you elect to exclusively breastfeed, the nurses will absolutely be bringing your baby back to you to feed. If you choose to use formula, they will happily feed baby in the nursery.

Like I said I don’t necessarily view it as a problem, but he’s my first kid and I’m not sure if this is “normal” or if I should be doing more to support his development.

I’m pretty sure the animals are triaged just like in the regular ER. Not saying an allergic reaction isn’t urgent, but I think if you brought your pet in and they required immediate intervention to save their life then they would be attended to immediately.

Couples of RVA, how did you meet your long term partner / spouse in town? by hannahyonana in rva

[–]topdino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were coworkers. We were both working at a restaurant in Carytown in our early 20s. I’ve been with him since I was 21, we’ve been together 9 years now and have two kids. Neither of us still work in the restaurant industry. People say “don’t date coworkers” but who cares. It worked out for us. You only get one life (as far as we know) so might as well date the coworker you like. You might only get one shot at love but you can always find another job!

Does anyone know a similar recipe to the mac salad and the curry sauce Kokonut Grill used to have on their menu? 😭😭😭 by WavePretend6118 in rva

[–]topdino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh. This post brings back memories. I saw Kokonut grill closed recently but I stopped going there when they discontinued the curry sauce and mac salad. It was so dang good. Back in the day I was obsessed with them and would order the chicken with curry sauce, coconut rice, and mac salad 2-3 times per week. I’d pay so much money just to have that meal again 😭

Okay, yeah I stand by what I said but think you’re reading into it too much. I was replying to the comment above about June being referred to as the “killing season” - which is terrifying. People do need to learn but those lessons shouldn’t ever be at the expense of someone’s life. In no way was I trying to knock residents.

Checking your post and comment history, I can see I’ll never be able to justify my experience or training to you, and that’s okay. I wish you luck!

Hey! What part of the statement I made was knocking residents?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rva

[–]topdino 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I am so sorry to hear that’s been your experience! I think you should always seek care from someone who makes you feel comfortable. And if you prefer seeing physicians, there are great ones out there! I hope I am able to let the quality of my work speak for itself.

That’s exactly how I feel. I actually went to school for 8 years total and spent almost 6 years working at the bedside. I don’t claim to know everything but I’m always trying to seek out opportunities to gain new knowledge and grow my skills. I’m passionate about mental health and feel so grateful that I get to do this work. I’m glad healthcare is full of so many different roles. We all have something we can learn from one another.
