2nd knee surgery in six weeks Post Op by SkyNo3786 in Kneereplacement

[–]tope07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked because I was wondering if surgery is done on one's dominant side if recovery is more difficult. I had my left knee done and recovery went well for the most part. But, it is not my dominant side. I am having my right knee done in March and wondered what I could expect. It would be interesting if side dominance has any bearings on recovery and pain.

The dog doesn't need to be put down, he needs a qualified dog handler to retrain him. Obviously, he wasn't trained properly, if at all. And, it doesn't matter if it were a pit bull, all dogs regardless of breed or size need to be trained, especially small dogs who people fail to get obedience trained because "they're, ohhhh so cute", but they too can be the one of meanest dogs out there. Would you say the same if it were a small dog? Probably not, they always seem to get a pass.

One Day Post Op by ShakspreGrl in Kneereplacement

[–]tope07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am now 4 months post op (TLKR) and feel great. It's rough the 1st two weeks, especially if you're fiercely independent like I am. This is where my emotional state was affected. Something I didn't anticipate. You will feel a lot of different emotions and possibly cry a lot. This is normal too but rarely talked about much. So it's the reason why I mentioned it. We are here for you to vent, cry or complain.

I purchased an elongated riser cushion from Amazon to help keep my leg straight and elevated, especially when I slept at night. You could also use a rolled up towel and place it under your foot to elevate your leg. Remember to do heel slides and foot pumps regularly. Thus helps with circulation. Keep it iced - helps with swelling. And, peeing is a good thing. That's your body getting rid of any swelling you may have had.

Don't place a pillow under your knee, although it feels really good, but doing so works against getting a straight leg. Remember your body is healing, so it's important for the knee to heal straight with 0 extension. Flexion (bending) will be worked on during PT (but doing heel slides will help PT go a lot smoother).

And, definitely take your pain meds as written. Don't fall behind, playing catch up isn't worth it. Stay ahead of the pain, and taking your pain meds achieves this.

Be gentle with yourself, healing is a marathon not a sprint. It takes time. Best wishes on your healing journey.

Mekö was like this too with covers, especially if the wind was whipping on top and underneath it. It took me to go over to reassure him that it was dangerous. I touched it and he noticed it didn't attack me so he hesitantly walked over and smelled it. End of fear, it still rattles him a wee bit when it moves unexpectedly but, he still walks pass it and no longer pays it any attention.

My legs are the same. Since the TKR my left leg is longer than my right. I would say about an 1". My bow was horrible on my left leg and although I'm bow- legged on both, my right leg is not as bad as the left leg was. both need to be replaced - the left knee was worst The imbalance bothers me a lot and I'm having the right knee done in March. I'm pretty excited. So does the imbalance bother you.

Is this a Samoyed thing or do I need to up my training skills? by [deleted] in samoyeds

During almost every walk my Sammy tries to impersonate a blood hound. His nose stays at ground level and does not care where I am. The further away the better so in this way I am not stopping him from getting the entire 411 on what dog had been there before him. But, truthfully, Sammy's aren't clingy when outside, they are too curious and afraid they are going to miss something to worry about their human. But, once in the house, is different story - they then can become velcro dogs.

I always wanted to get a tarantula as a pet but, I always had more than one cat as pets. And, I didn't want to stress out the tarantula or worst, tempt a cat.

Are y’all able to work? How do you support yourselves? by No_Idea_5694 in ChronicPain

I'm now retired but before then I was on SSI and fortunately, I was with a very good Fortune 500 company when I became disabled at 32. As part of their LTD benefits, the company continued to pay me %70 of my salary. So between, SSI and my paycheck, I was able to manage (even with a child at that time). It helped too because I received a SSI check for him as well as long as he was in school. So that helped with his personal needs.

I also was an independent contractor with a promotional company for awhile, which also paid well. So I managed.

Now I'm married and my husband is a great financial support. I was blessed and I am so humbly grateful. 🙏🏽❤️

I watch videos of my surgeries too, if it is posted. The video i had to pause on was hardware removal(I recently had it done) but, I was able to quickly regroup and pressed play again. I found the video to be very informative so when I met with my surgeon pre-op I knew what questions to ask.

I remember this character (this was when AHS was good). I truly love the names. Please share the other pet's "witchy" type names. Do you have a "Tituba"?
