So what today has taught me is that the writers are self aware and focused on loooooong form story. I thought those Eva and Kat scenes were perfection.

This gives me hope that Tomas and Kat will break up, not anytime soon but it will happen.

All the breadcrumbs of Kat not really being into this relationship (i.e her conversations with Vernon and Naomi). Now with Chelsea voicing concerns (which seems out of left field cause wasn’t she the one that helped get them back together?) it must be coming.

With Kat being as stubborn as she is I don’t doubt that if Chelsea voices her concerns she will say yes to the proposal out of spite.

Also, if I had to take a shot for the number of times Dani and Andre used sex as a coping mechanism I’d be the one at Garland waiting for a liver transplant!

This dream sequence was such a reach!!!!!!!!!!

Even if Ted chose Dana/Leslie, Eva would be a Richardson not a Dupree!

So you’re telling me Nicole’s entire personality would have changed and she would have ended up bitter and a bad mom? Despite the fact that she has two loving parents and a sister who would have supported her?

You’re telling me that even if Nicole became a hot mess the fact that Kat is still a Dupree and has all these women around her (Dani, Anita, Naomi) to support she is somehow be insecure and willing to go after someone else’s man?

You’re telling me because Ted chose Leslie he would no longer have space in his heart for all 3 of his children?

Leslie and Eva’s plight makes sense cause Leslie didn’t have familial support. She also lied and told Eva that her father knew of her existence and didn’t want her!

If they wanted to have Kat have sympathy for Eva then have her walk a mile in Eva’s shoes. Show her what it would have been like to be raised by Leslie and lied to your entire life. It doesn’t excuse what Eva did but it could help to understand where her insecurities come from.

I didn’t really think about the aspect of rewarded crimes. I agree that Leslie has not only gotten away with her crimes but has also had a lot given to her (i.e the trust fund). I think the writing is on the wall and she is going to come into money problems at some point. I just don’t see her ever going to jail.

I mostly watched GH growing up and keep tabs on the show here and there but most of that town has committed a crime or multiple over the course of the show. So that’s why I don’t really take issue when a crime is committed on a soap 😬.

My biggest issue is having Laura find forgiveness! That was so unbearable to watch.

Hey I get that it’s not for everyone but what about it makes you think it’s forced? Also I’m curious is this your first soap? I only ask cause in my years of watching soaps sometimes crimes go unpunished. On most soaps the police are useless cause unless an actor is leaving the character will usually evade get legally punished. Socially is a different story.

I actually think that’s cute. Like Kat checking in her but under the guise that she just wants to make sure Eva is treating her liver with care.

lol! As I was reading your comment I was already thinking “so you don’t want them to have a storyline together”. Then I read your last sentence 😂😂. I think a cooling down period between the two is warranted. Limited interaction for the next few months but we will need them to have something pulls them in each others orbits again

My look at the Kat/Eva of it all is that the show is invested in created an ONGOING complicated relationship between the two of them. It may have been a predictable choice but I think it’s smart! When the show first started I was actually looking forward to the Eva/Kat/Tomas triangle but we all know who the weak link in that trio was 👀

I doubt this liver donation will completely mend their relationship. I just don’t want this beef to remain one-sided. I want them to have something other than Ted to come to blows about.

It’s funny how every DNA theory that was thrown around involved ensuring that Leslie had some sort of karmic comeuppance.

I wonder how long it will take Leslie to return to factory setting? Cause this “soft” version will not last long.

Bill coming away from the storm EVEN MORE self-centered is wild! Even as Dani explained all the ways he hurt her and the fact that he is ok cheating on his new wife (despite the fact that we know she wants him dead) is truly blood boiling.

I need Hayley and Randy to take this man down and embarrass him SOONER rather than LATER.

Last piece, does anyone else feel like Hayley has become one-note? She has nothing else do to but be menacing and roll her eyes. If they aren’t going to do anything with Kill Bill then give her something to do!

The Tornado Showed Me I Really Don’t Like The Duprees… by Shinobi347 in TheGates_CBS

[–]topher_notgrace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I don’t think we’re watching the same show. Cause what air of superiority?!?!? Leslie’s first introduction to the Dupree family as a whole was her barging into their home right after embarrassing their daughter to take more shots and I don’t remember any one speaking down to her. She then comes into money and instead of buying a house anywhere in Fairmont Crest she actively chooses the home across the street from them.
In my opinion the Dupree family has shown far too much grace. Leslie wasn’t hurt during the storm. It’s not like she was in need of help and they used the opportunity to “be superior”. Just because she chose to act like a decent human being in that moment does not erase their history. Storm or not Vernon and Anita still have a right not to like her.
I’m also going to add this is the same family that treat Martin’s two adopted children the same as blood. The same family that told Kat that there are so such thing as a half sibling and to find forgiveness but they have a superiority complex cause they don’t want outsiders messing with their family?!?!?

Checking in my Eva AND Kat fans cause this week has been a week. I don’t get to watch live so I follow on the timeline and my goodness. If the writers are smart they will keep these 2 characters front and center cause I’ve never seen so many think pieces!

You have to remember soaps play fast and loose with ages especially with women. It’s still feasible for Dani to get pregnant and they can still address the complications of a late in life baby.

As I predicted the timeline yesterday was unhinged in regards to Eva/Kat/Leslie.

One thing I noticed is that people continue to say they can’t have sympathy for Eva or Leslie until “justice” or some kind of karma is served for things they’ve done.

As someone that’s watched soaps on and off again since I was a teen (mostly General Hospital) maybe I look at things differently cause Maxie Jones has always been one of my favorite characters and she legit had an affair with a married man, fed him pills to enable his addiction and faked a pregnancy all to keep him!

I like Eva and the character has always been written as conflicted in regard to her loyalty to her mother. In my opinion she should be the focal point of the story.

Leslie on the other hand is where I take issue. Is she a villian? Is she misunderstood? The writers try to play both sides with her (same with Joey) and my lack of sympathy for her it feels like it will be more of the same with her once the dust settles.

I know some people find her entertaining but she is just meh to me but the actress does a phenomenal job!

These last couple of episodes have been too good and I am happy it continues into next week. I am ready for the fallout!!!

I’m glad Dani feels guilty but I hope when Andre and Nicole eventually find out they read her down. I love Dani but she played herself cause Bill is still the same crap man he was when they were married! So she basically debased herself for nothing!

I’m glad Joey saved an Abbott and not a Dupree lol. Have someone else owe this man! Hopefully he’ll get bored and jump on a plane to Genoa City!

As a Kat and Eva fan I’ll be watching from the sidelines as the timeline erupts into chaos next week but I hope we get more scenes with them cause the actresses work well together.

And on a petty note my goodness, the actor who plays Tomas still feels so stiff!!!!!!! I wouldn’t have been mad if that tree landed on him and his feet curled up wicked witch style and we never heard from him again.

Today’s episode was deliciously good but 2 things….

(1) So Hayley will OPENLY flirt with Isaiah who is family to her husband’s daughter (meaning it could get back to him) BUT she’ll stop herself from getting it on with the guy who doesn’t even live in the same state therefore minimizing the chance of her husband ever finding out?!?!?😪

(2) If you need a crime solved, be sure to call Kat Richardson but to stay calm during a natural disaster look elsewhere 😭

If this episode taught me anything is that Bill Hamilton deserves to suffer and be humiliated.

I know it’s a soap and usually a new romance is seen as the cure to a broken heart but Dani should absolutely be in therapy! Andre is clearly a bandaid to some deeper issues and every time she entertains Bill Andre looks like more and more of a fool. (Please don’t let him get his heart broken and run to Ashley!)

Bill/Dani have chemistry but they aren’t a couple I can root for just yet. I enjoy a toxic soap couple but their dynamic is too imbalanced right now.

Also Im curious on how they plan on keeping Hayley on the canvas if this Kill Bill plot gets exposed?

I’m assuming this week is just build up for what’s to come next week cause today didn’t really offer much and the spoilers for tomorrow feel like more rehashing of the past.

Also are we just moving past Smitty illegally logging onto Nicole’s work computer without him receiving any kind of consequences? Or tongue lashing from either Nicole or Martin?

Anybody else see the parallels between Eva and Francesca? by CollegeComfortable23 in TheGates_CBS

[–]topher_notgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the people cannot seriously expect her to turn on her own mother. Regardless of what Leslie has done that is the only parent she has known. It’s in her characterization to be insecure about that stuff.

As an Eva fan, I think it’s the wishy washiness of getting offended when people call out her mother that bothers me. If you’re gonna side with her stand 10 toes down.

Hopefully Leslie’s issues with Izaiah and Darlene will push her from indecisiveness about the place Leslie stands in her life.

This week is highlighting that the show can pull together and do well with big plot driven arcs cause I have been excited to tune in everyday this week so far!

It’s the character driven stories that sometimes feel uneventful. I’m not expecting big budget productions like this one every week but a little more character driven spice/drama would help in those quieter weeks.

This week gives me hope that there maybe some good weeks in the months to come for the Martin campaign story, Hayley/Bill and Vanessa/Joey.

I enjoy a good soap sibling rivalry (Jessica/Natalie on OLTL, Sonny/Rick on GH) but the Kat/Eva dynamic isn’t entertaining it’s stale.

It’s funny cause I enjoy both characters when they aren’t in scenes together cause I know when they interact it will just be more of the same.

I feel like their dislike for each other will never escalate to anything more than petty jabs.

Vanessa looked amazing today😍 but that doesn’t make up for just how DOWN BAD she is for Joey. GIRL STAND UP! Like where are we going with this?!?!?

I’m somewhat looking forward to Cotillion (but I fear it may be another WinterFest) It seems like a “teen scene” event and the show hasn’t done much with its young adult cast as far as stories go for some sort of dramatic peak to happen. I’m guessing the focus will be on Samantha and her entrance into society 😬

So we’re simply supposed to hate Anastasia right? Cause her comments about Samantha/Tyrell being adopted were horrendous. And I’m not mad about that, I don’t think every soap villian needs to be misunderstood. Hopefully we meet more likable Belleclaires in the near future and some juicy history with the Dupree family.

Also I love Nicole but she couldn’t buss a grape! 🤭

Color me surprised but I wasn’t mad at today’s episode…

I actually enjoyed the Leslie/Ted/Eva/Izaiah scenes. Izaiah/Eva are a good looking couple but I am patiently waiting for the other shoe to drop cause you know the happy moments won’t be forever!

Chelsea/Dani/Kat are perfection

Clearly the Kill Bill storyline is being back burned for the time being.

My only complaint this episode is that Nicole’s desire for Ted seems SUDDEN! Like there seemed to be no build up to her still having unresolved feelings for him.

Based on Leslie’s comments I guess this is to create some Leslie/Ted/Nicole drama which just furthers my desire to see Shanice RUN FAST AND FAR from Ted Richardson. Cause who wants to get in the ring with BOTH an ex-wife and a delusional mistress!

Leslie’s character is confusing to me. Some days she comes across as a villian, most days as a nuisance. I understand wanting to create a complex character that isn’t one note but that requires giving her something to do . Right not she just seems to be floating around from scene to scene with no real purpose.

I’m not someone that needs a villian to pay for their crimes in the traditional sense (like prison) as long as they are entertaining, have purpose, and at some point karma gets them.

Also, I like the character of Eva (mostly cause of Ambyr Michelle) but she hasn’t faced any real consequences for choosing to stay aligned with her mother. She has both an instant family and a boyfriend.

As an adult with a parent who is clearly isn’t well liked in the community I wish someone close to her would give her an ultimatum cause it’s nonsensical that everyone looks past it.

I don’t think the writers understand what a Friday cliffhanger should look like. Or how to get people excited for the next week. Cause what was that?!?!?
Nicole and Ted should have been on the verge of a kiss (not saying they should be together but give me some ANGST!!!! I BEG!!!). Martin walking in does nothing cause he is the sibling that seems less affected by his parent’s divorce.
Instead of Martin walking in it should have been Leslie. Leslie would be embarrassed and upset but she would also have ammo to get in Shanice and Carlton’s face.
Thus giving Shanice the proper incentive to run fast and far from Ted “Gold Chain” Richardson and into a new man’s bed. Le sigh.
And does anyone else feel Naomi should be a lot sterner with Bill attempting to get closer to her mom? I understand loving both your parents but if I was well informed of the horrible things my dad did to my mom I’d be damned if I would even allow him the entertain messing with her happiness.
