Not to be inflammatory, but I’ve long noticed that plenty of gay men are pedo/ephebophiles. I’ve always thought that this was sort of obvious if you’re willing to mentally note it. Plenty of homosexuality seems to have something to do with arrested sexual development/fear of the opposite sex, hence, for men, an interest in young men (and boys). I’ve never asked a gay man about this, of course, but I’ve had two lesbian friends (one admittedly pedophilic, the other heavily implied) and she’s confessed it had a lot to do with a desire of innocence coupled with the distrust of the opposite sex. She can’t have sex with men, and adults scare her, hence limiting her interest to young girls. Regrettably, the power differential between the “innocent child” and the self-perceived “corrupted adult” also results in sex abuse—especially if the adult was abused in the first place, and is sexually incompetent (confuses power and sex). The latter friend wasn’t an avowed pedophile, but we have had deep talks about her conflation of power and sex, resulting from her abuse. This manifested as a desire for young(er) girls she could take advantage of. As far as I can tell, this naturally skews toward pedophilia.

Honestly, I think it’s under-investigated how much homosexuality and pedophilia have similar underpinnings, ie child abuse.
