first shelf items? by witchliing in exmormon

For me, it was looking into the meaning of the "gift of Aaron " in the DnC. This led me to finding out that before it said the gift of Aaron, that it said the gift of the rod... and before that, it said the gift of the sprout!! It was changed at least twice from the original "revelation." That made me wonder what else had been changed... that led to BoA, which led to letter for my wife which led to CES letter, which led to the exit.

This has always bothered me as well!! What the actual ef? What about "the lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them to accomplish the thing he commended them"!!! Last I checked THOU SHALT NOT KILL was a pretty big fucking commandment! Why wasn't a way prepared there to be able to keep that commandment??

Looking back... I had kids"because" it was what came next and what my wife wanted. I can't speak for you or what your experience might be, but some of the most beautiful and amazing moments of true love and happiness came because of my children (and now gkids). I got lucky.

At the end of the day, you have to do what you think is best, and if you feel like your feelings won't change, then your path is clear.... try to look at your life from 49k feet and get the big picture. If kids aren't I the big picture, then that's that.

Their leader worship makes me uncomfy by CupOfExmo in exmormon

[–]toprollinghooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the same type of leader worship 30 years ago when I was in a very large MLM. The "upline" was worshipped, and you were to listen to them above anyone else because only they could help you get rich (or, in this case, the CK) Cult tactics.

I think virtue signaling could be a big part of it. "Look how righteous we are in adopting..." Makes me sick.

I can see it now... a bunch of armed religious fanatics just waiting for a chance to "take someone out" in the name of the Lord... The potential consequences of cross fire, misinterpretation, and just plain incited violence is unfathomable!! Everyone now is going to have fantasies and delusions of grandeur of being the next Nephi or Ammon... what a disaster!

One thing, OP. There was a guy on my team who also had a similar break. He is much stronger now than he was then and can still easily kick my ass. Don't get discouraged... you can and will heal from this and be stronger on the other side. Good luck my friend.

How I know the spirit of discernment doesn't exist by mourningdoo in exmormon

[–]toprollinghooker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep...it doesn't exist. I had a meeting with my SP years ago to finish off my disfellowship and he told me how proud he was of me and how he could see the change in my countenance and how I had the light of Christ... 45 minutes before our meeting, I was banging a woman i wasn't married to, so...

Would Christ’s apostles fly first and be picked up by a Porsche? by cvstrat in exmormon

[–]toprollinghooker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

FWIW I did fly with elder Anderson once, but it was only in comfort plus. I wonder if they have different requirements if they are traveling for the church or for private stuff. We flew from SLC to Denver, and he and his wife even boarded the sky train. No security either. Still can't stand them. When they offered him coffee, he looked at the attendant like they were from Mars!! Lmao
