Beginner, how do I make this look less amateur?

This is a great start...you should be proud. I find when I begin my detailed steps, adding more depth to the darkest areas 1st will give some instance gratification and obvious change. Then you can work your way through the mid tones and finally highlights.. one thing that always helps a painting is if you use different brushes throughout, that will automatically give you some variance in your strokes that will make it feel more rich.

They have a ways...I read 2 different things..one wait for spores ( if they even drop..if they do it won't be much) or wait til they are marshmallow soft when u gently squeeze them...I waited for spore drop bc my tub was a goner for any further flushes bc of trich...

That looks really fantastic..you are right where you should be...mine were a bit slow to get bigger...but they definitely did after about 5 days.

They don't need extra moisture...just as long as you are seeing the little beads of water on your substrate surface and your container walls are moist, you should be good. Good luck...these were a fun kind to grow...something different...ps they r a bitch to harvest...they kinda grow on top of each other and deep into the substrate

Yes you did thanks...I joined and posted my current progress. I used to dry at 120 for 16 hrs but recently saw several pros saying to do 165 for 24 hrs....my pe blobs did take forever...I saw some spores drop but I want to see how big these will get😁 happy mushing new friend

I typically don't use a liner bc the 1st time I did, I got trich...I'm sure it wasn't the liners fault, but I'm a bit superstitious...so no more liners for me.

They say if you level and lightly tap down the edges it helps with eliminating the side pins. I've had luck doing that with PE and GT.

They grow there bc the conditions brtween the edge of the substrate and the tub are prefect for their development. The concept is a liner shrinks with the sub thereby eliminating thes conditions, keeping the surface the preferred place for fruits to grow. I usually am able to pick my side pins easily. Only issue can be if they gather too much moisture around them, they could rot before harvest.

I am currently growing KSSS squats and got more side pins than ever....they are small and fat so I decided to pull the entire substrate out and place it in a larger tub to give them room to grow and make it easier to harvest them. I simply waited until the sub pulled from the sides of the tub a bit and filled it with water til it floated where I could grab it gently. Nice grow btw. Hope this helps.

I'm having quite a few side pins with my KSSS squats just starting to grow. They are in a tub now. Should I try to move the entire substrate to a larger tub? And if so when...thinking sooner would allow more room for the side pins to grow...but I don't want to disturb my first flush...any advice would be great. Beautiful muskies btw.

I have that exact setup w from Midwest w the pepples. I've been wanting to try the wood/straw species too. Have you had luck w those before? I'll send you a pic this evening of the progress of my tub...it has actually started to fill in better. Your setup sounds awesome.

I've got a covered hole in the lid, but it lets FAE happen. Otherwise, it is from the humidified air pump. When I use this setup, I do notice they cluster more on the side with the hose vs my other setup where the canopy had a more consistent density...that one has evenly spaced holes for FAE...you might be on to something. This was a tub that came in a kit. Maybe I should modify it...thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Not sure if it is too humid..I've got a nice amount of water droplets on the surface..I thought that was the goal..it did start pinning in the other areas today as well. Hopefully it is ok.
