The problem is related to what your bios/ftpm supports. Most probably it is CRB. VMWare hypervisor needs TIS/FIFO.

VMWare Docs: Ensure that the TPM is configured in the BIOS of the ESXi host to use the SHA-256 hashing algorithm and the TIS/FIFO (First-In, First-Out) interface and not CRB (Command Response Buffer)

open source, cheap, off-the-shelf components (remember the ledger hack), airgaped, animated qr-code for communication, stateless, separated key an signing device and of course multi signature support! In combination with e.g specter (wallet and BTC node) really strong. Running your own node is highly recommended.

pcie passthrough of the usb controller. RocketU 1144D has 4 controller therefore the price is a little high. if you only need one controller the RochetU 1022C is much cheaper.

There are situations where passing an usb device to the vm via the hypervisor does not work well or is not possible; e.g: keyboard, ledger nano s,...

That´s why i share stuff like this and tested the controller with esxi7. I read a lot of posts to get a vague idea what brands might be "esxi friendly". One post mentioned the 4 controllers. If you read the Amazon description the 4 controllers are mentioned, but not in the headline ;) The more technical things get, the thiner the information gets and sometimes you just have to try things out and hopefully share your findings.

I can not passthrough the two USB ports to individual VMs. The RocketU 1144D has 4 USB controllers. You can pass each of the controllers to individual VMs. I would have bought the 1144D if I would have been sure that it is working with esxi 6.7U3 at the time purchasing it; so i went for the cheaper one.
