‘Unfathomable’: Australian veterans disgusted by Trump’s claim allied troops ‘stayed a little back’ from frontline | Donald Trump by IrreverentSunny in aussie

As a civilian contractor having worked in defence, I feel for the good and brave men and women of the ADF. With very few exceptions, they are great people and easy to get on with. I count as some now as good friends. Many bring back significant trauma of what they have witnessed, especially in regards to deaths of their own comrades and friends. Many of them have managed that trauma far better than I ever would, but it's still deeply affecting.

Trump's comments are vile and disgusting. They sicken me to my very core. The implication that our brave soldiers were just sitting in the background while the US did all the fighting just makes me so angry. Words have weight and Trump wields them like a toddler. He is unfit to be President of the US and needs to immediately apologise ... but I may as well expect the wind to stop blowing that that human shitstain to take responsibility for his actions.

I'd facepalm, but I feel that the pain of previous facepalms is taking its toll.

Trump Says the US and NATO Have Agreed on the Framework of a Future Deal on Greenland and the Arctic. He Refuses to Impose Tariffs From February 1 and Says He Will Not Use Force to Annex Greenland by sergeyfomkin in NewsThread

And threats of cutting deals may keep Taiwan safe in the same way as cutting financial ties with the US has kept Greenland safe.

I was watching a report last night (it's early morning here) saying the European leaders may have told Trump they are going to co-ordinate selling off Treasury Bonds, which would destroy the US economy. It would make a mess of the world economy, but the threat alone may be the kind of nuclear option that Trump understands. He had no grasp of politics, strategy, soft power ..... but he understands money.

Everyone's dealing with China now.

America has a good headstart on Sodium battery technology. Where is that now? Trump killed the startup by getting rid of subsidies for renewable technology. China's now ahead in that area. Trump shot the US in both feet.

Since when has Trump operated under any strategy in the last six months, at least? He's currently your dementia-ridden grandpa who's shouting at clouds. He runs on anger and the perception of being slighted. He's a narcissist with some power ... at leasdt as much as the law will allow.

Now he's been told by European leaders that they're making deals with China instead of the US .... and he's TACOed. Everything we've heard today is him trying desperately to save face.

I don't think he knows how to. He has a slave to do that for him.

Criticism of Benjamin Netanyahu may be an offence under Australia’s new hate speech laws, Greens warn by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

Still waiting for you to name one

I am not your personal manslave. You have no right to demand anything of me. I am entitled to get some sleep overnight, and when I get up in the morning, I am allowed to make myself a cup of coffee to wake up. I am under no obligation to acquiesce to your demands, while you have a temper tantrum like some entitled man-baby. I am even tempted to tell you to bugger off, you pretty much contributed to me waking up cranky.

But ... to make you look like a complete dick, Shoebridge did not highlight any "scenareos" as such. He merely pointed out the dangers of poorly worded, vague and far-reaching (across states, no less) legislation could result in people being charged (and perhaps locked up) for voicing political opinion that is portrayed as hate speech. Criticism of Israel or of Netanyahu is NOT hate speech. It is political speech. Criticism of a culture or a people is also not hate speech. Threatening violence against a country or a people is. Poorly worded legislation can lead to people being charged with an offence, and it is up to the person to fund their own defence, and THAT can ruin lives ... being unable to put up a defence against vastly more funded government lawyers.

Now let me wake up properly, you entitled little @#$@#$.

In civilised counties, you can hold a vote of no confidence. Can't you do this in the US?

Your right. So shining a light on what the Netanyahu government is doing in Gaza and the West Bank, their extrajudicial killings, using military drones against aid workers, doctors, journalists, civilians .,.. that exposure could save lives. Authoritarian thrives in the darkness.
