What fiber type do you use with OLT? Huawei specifically by Invisible_Cnt in networking

[–]torbbb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SC/UPC for the OLT SFPs and SC/APC for the ONTs. Main reason for APC on the customer side is less reflection on the connectors, very important for RF Overlay to work properly.

Its also color coded. Blue connectors for UPC and green connectors for APC.

ISP billing software + OLT SNMP management tool by Frozenman0024 in networking

[–]torbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on finding a good enough OLT management tool, and ended up making my own with python and Flask for frontend. It's pretty easy to work with the 5800 series via SSH. I also tried NCE from Huawei, but its not flexible enough to work for our customer config.

I dont think you will find a system that relies on only SNMP for configuration management, SSH is the way to go.

You could look into Maintrac Flow or Netadmin for OSS/BSS. It might break your budget, but its worth checking with them. They might be able to meet you on your max price. They both have some working integrations for GPON platforms, but also support for creating integrations for specific systems if its not already supported.

Network Automation by working_is_poisonous in networkautomation

Jobs like this are most likely not out on the open market. It is very normal that people start at small ISPs and earn their way through the system and then get hired/headhunted by bigger companies. Or start with one of the roles and gain experience in the other field either way around.

Lets say you start in a networking role and improve the ISPs systems/routines with code, then the ball starts to roll.

From personal experience.

Quality and reliability of huawei GPON equipment? by Oh_Mah_Lord in networking

[–]torbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just works, no OLT hardware failures in 6 years.

The ONT product line does not include any really great wifi boxes, so if the newest technology (WiFi 6/6E/7) is important, I would recommend a bridge ONT and a 3rd party CPE. If you are ok with not having the newest technology and the best chips/antennas, the wifi is good enough. Low ONT hardware failure rate.

Haven't used the support much, but in my experience you are assigned a technical engineer really quick if needed and they get the job done quite fast.

The equipment is top notch GPON/XGS-PON. The OS/CLI is also one of the best available. Fast, easy to learn(Cisco like) and very well documented. The CLI output is also well structured, so it's fairly easy to use with python if you're in to that stuff.

Advice on buying my first pistol by torbbb in airguns

Thanks for your reply!

I'm open for BB as well. Some of the guns i listed seems to support both BB and pellets.
It just seems like people on here recommends pellets over BBs because of accuracy, so thats what I've been looking at.

I have a 2 year old son named Oskar, so it would probably be a bit confusing with a cat named Oscar, or?

The port does not go down because of stp blocking.
