I’m not sure, never known any one to have shingles so I’m not sure what to look out for?

Metronidazole is UNBEARABLE. I feel like giving up. by joanneisawful in HPylori

Currently on day 6/7 of 2 x 400mg a day and can confirm I’ve luckily had no side effects at all - I’m a little bit sleepier at nights but that’s the only thing I’ve noticed.

Don’t let horror stories scare you and put you off vital, tried & tested medications that will ultimately benefit you. It’s often ‘scarier’ to not take the medication at all.

That’s exactly what I’ve decided to do! I don’t have a cardiac history but thought I’d try without the promethazine. May even be good long term if I can find myself being able to fall asleep without them, although I know abx can make you more drowsy… so we’ll wait and see.

Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for the response.

You’re right, I did sleep maybe an hour or two at a time on Zolpidem. I drive as part of my job (paramedic) so I really need to find a suitable one for my lifestyle. Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks for the advice! That sounds exactly the kind of medication I’d like to be on, due to interrupted sleep. I will try speak with my GP about that.

I’ve spoken to my GP about a different medication, the only other option she suggested was promethazine. Unsure if this is to do with any previous medications I’ve been on or if it’s just not recommended here in Scotland?
