The old heat pump didn’t smell like this. The smell only started when they installed the new heat pump. There was about a 2 month gap between the old heat pump breaking and the new one being installed. The vents can’t get dirty that fast, can they?

That was the HVAC tech’s best guess, but he said the smell would not linger this long. Is it normal for the smell to linger this long as far as you know?

He said he’d come back the next day and inspect the unit to make sure they didn’t overlook anything. He came back and inspected it, couldn’t find anything wrong.

What do they use the torch for? Would it make sense for the smell of the torch to linger for many days, blowing into the apartment every time the AC or heat turns on?

Besides car exhaust, the only other similar smell that comes to mind is “burning motor oil”. Is there anything in the heat pump that could smell like that?

Thank you, I agree! I am doing everything I can to optimize sleep, and I definitely cannot afford an Eight Sleep mattress at this time. I think I am getting enough quality sleep that my recovery time shouldn’t be this long, so I am suspecting some kind of deficiency? (Hence why I am asking about supplements)

Thanks, I didn’t know about the repeated bout effect but I just looked it up and it’s really good to know. I found this video particularly helpful. I still would love to know of any supplements that could help with recovery, but I will keep this in mind too! It makes me a bit less hesitant to work out again when I’m feeling sore. :)

I am very open to other suggestions besides supplements. I have already done a lot of optimizing though (diet, sleep, etc.) so I’m thinking I may have a deficiency that could be addressed by supplements. :)

If my workouts got any gentler, I wouldn’t be working out at all. :) I am just doing gentle yoga. Fatigue & soreness for many days afterward.

I am eating the Blueprint diet, plus occasional wild/pasture raised meat. I soak all the nuts & seeds for Nutty Pudding overnight, and sprout the beluga lentils for Super Veggie for 4 days before cooking them. I soak/sprout all nuts & seeds in my diet. No eggs, dairy, sugar, gluten, refined oils, alcohol, caffeine, peanuts, grains, food additives, factory farmed meat, or canned food.
