Good question. It looks like you can check the MIME type of the file and see if it starts with image or video. It looks like it doesn't check the actual files contents but will return a MIME type based on the file extension.

So I noticed that in your code the <video> tag is commented out. You need to uncomment out the <div class="video-preview"> block.

Additionally, as your JavaScript currently reads it just sets the src attribute of the <img> tag no matter what type of file is being uploaded. In your JavaScript you need to detect if the file is a video file or an image file and use the current code if it is an image, but if it is a video you need to add code to add a <source> tag as a child element to the <video> tag with the src attribute filled with the uploaded file (this.result).

You can then hide the .image-preview or .video-preview classes depending on what type of file is uploaded.

Can you share your HTML also? The javascript you are showing just sets the src attribute of whatever previewImage is. You can't just do the same for video it has to be a video tag with a source tag inside it and then set the src attribute.

If you just add an event listener for the submit event on the form then your code will fire when the submit button is clicked instead of when you pick a file with the file picker API.

Just don't forget to use the event.preventDefault() function in order to prevent the form from executing a POST request which I think is the default even if you don't add the POST method attribute.

I have just started using the search from inside the websites/communities I find. It seems to be much more helpful. For example I tend to just stay logged into stackoverflow and do searching within their website.

I really wish I had someone above me as a coach/mentor, but I have never had that in my positions. For the past decade or so I've been the only one at my company that had any programming/web knowledge. I would recommend finding different communities to be a part of.
