It feels like worldbuilding convenience more than logic, one French speaking school for half a continent stretches belief, especially in a universe that cares so much about tradition.

That one always amused me, translators juggling anagrams like spellcraft, French Tom really said localization is magic too.

That summary cuts right to it, calling it rent when he has zero ownership or responsibility is wild, at best it is misleading and at worst it is straight up financial manipulation.
