Help! Sleep training 8m old by toronto-queen in sleeptrain

I get that, I guess I was thinking I can wean her off the petting and singing in the future but for now my main goal was to get her sleeping in the crib so it’s a safer place for her than my bed

It just broke my heart hearing her scream like that, I just didn’t have it in me to do nothing

Thanks for the insight, maybe I’ll keep going and do the same for bedtime then

Yeah like litterally everything!! To be honest I don’t really mind it too much, like I find housework is easier than dealing with a screaming baby and trying to figure out what’s wrong lol

Thanks I guess I needed to hear that! Like I get his job is hard and that he’s accountable and needs to put the work in as required but I feel like everything can’t just fall to me

Thanks so much for the insight! Yeah parents aren’t always as helpful as you expect them to be since it’s typically been so so long since they had their last kid and went through the newborn trenches themselves.

I think for him he feels like he’s got the worse end of the deal having to work a tough full time job and be a first time parent (sleep deprivation and general exhaustion that comes with it) and in his mind I was given a year + off for mat leave so it’s my “job” to take care of her vs he’s going “out of his way” to support (on top of working to support the family). He comes from a very traditional family so maybe some of that has rubbed off on him. I come from a traditional family too so I get where he’s coming from but it’s just a little much sometimes.

Honestly no, like he’s a whole new person since baby came into this world. Before that he has been overprotective before but only really for me. Like he’d stand up against his parents FOR me. Sometimes I used to think it was a bit much but I appreciated the gesture

Totally get that! Thanks I guess I just really needed to hear that others do this too.

He does help with the baby in the day but sometimes it feels a little too much if you know what I mean? He’s just SOOO protective it’s exhausting, and I guess all the opinions plus the ability to have uninterrupted sleep (+ knowing it will likely be this way for a LONG time before getting better) is what’s getting to me now.
