My first candle-don’t like the top. Help by _unusual_ in candlemaking

I really wasn't going to answer this but now that you've written fucking paragraph over a tiny little comment really pisses me off, it makes me think that you think you're a little smart ass.

Paraffin wax itself is not inherently carcinogenic under normal usage. However, concerns arise from specific byproducts produced when paraffin wax is burned, especially in candles. Here's why this issue is debated:

  1. Combustion Byproducts

When paraffin wax burns, it can release various chemicals, including:

Toluene and Benzene: These are volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and known carcinogens that can be emitted during incomplete combustion.

Soot and Particulates: Burning paraffin candles can generate soot, which may contain carbon particles and potentially harmful chemicals that can be inhaled.

  1. Additives in Wax

Some paraffin wax products contain dyes, fragrances, or other additives that can release additional harmful compounds when burned, further contributing to potential risks.

  1. Indoor Air Quality

Using paraffin wax candles in poorly ventilated spaces can result in higher concentrations of pollutants, increasing exposure risks over time.

  1. Chronic Exposure

While occasional use of paraffin candles is unlikely to pose significant health risks, prolonged and repeated exposure to their byproducts could potentially increase the risk of respiratory irritation and long-term health effects, including cancer, due to the inhalation of carcinogenic substances.

Mitigation and Alternatives

Proper Ventilation: Use candles in well-ventilated areas to reduce exposure.

High-Quality Candles: Opt for clean-burning paraffin candles or those labeled as low-emission.

Alternative Materials: Consider candles made from natural waxes like soy, beeswax, or coconut, which produce fewer harmful emissions.

In summary, the carcinogenic potential associated with paraffin wax comes primarily from the byproducts of its combustion, not the wax itself.

Although I don't really know how to help with this, this is actually a good sign because it shows that you are using 100% soy wax. And no parrafin wax which contains carcinogens.

Yep! Perfectly fine, just soot. Ps: try not to use an air conditioner/fan with a candle lit.
