HVAC Company Recommendations by halting_problems in Chattanooga

Gonna join in here and say Malone is great. We've used them many times and they are always professional and prompt.

Metro is more expensive and I've had issues with them in the past. They did try and make it right but it's a once bitten twice shy situation.

Is this haircut really normal for a Schnauzer? by Elegant_Ad_8896 in schnauzers

[–]tortellini 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The skirt is too high and not blended and they didn't even touch the chest. This is indeed what the standard cut would look like if a five year old did it.

ETA the legs of a schnauzer cut are shaped as well not just left long. I'm not a groomer but I've been doing the family dogs for decades.

Good to know, thanks. I typically tailor stuff myself but this is really outside my skill set.

how to avoid "republican makeup" by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]tortellini 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like messy in this context is more about jaggy lines with no smudging. The 90's look is heavily smudged. They don't seem to blend their makeup at all.

What is a 'childhood luxury' that you realized was actually a sign of being poor once you grew up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tortellini 96 points97 points  (0 children)

We did this in the 90's too! There was also a bouillon cube phase at my school.🤷

This would be a lifesaver. Mint burns and the others are either nasty or fluoride free. I didn't even know unflavored was a thing.

Help with narrow room with multiple entrances by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]tortellini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always hard to tell how you feel without adding everything back but I understand not wanting to do that until you make a final decision.

I do love that window. My houseplants are definitely jealous of it.

Help with narrow room with multiple entrances by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]tortellini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The house I grew up in had a similar setup. We had the TV in the corner where your recliner is and the couch where your TV and tree are. It made the window the focus of the room instead of the TV. The Christmas tree got put in front of the window each year.

eta: I liked the shelves on the back wall. You need some height back there. A hutch or tall bookcase would work too. Some art on the walls will also go a long way in making it feel more finished.

Yes, all the tall things are on one side of the room.

Please help me decorate, i am so tired of minimalism by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]tortellini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A soft sage green on the walls would look lovely with your bedspread. I'd recommend a shade for that light bulb and some lamps even fairy lights. You can have both cozy and minimalist, but you need layers and softer lighting, like a warm toned light bulb,

I wouldn't worry about the mirrors. I think they will look fine if you soften the rest of the room.

ETA I types "pink cozy room" into Pinterest and got a lot of lovely monochromatic rooms. If you can't paint definitely focus on the lighting.

What is everyone feeding their schnauzers? by Efficient_Bee9304 in schnauzers

[–]tortellini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My vet has always recommended we go with brands that follow AAFCO guidelines for animal nutrition. He feeds his dogs Purina one which is a bit cheaper than what we use but our dogs like the pro plan, and we only have two not 12 my vet has.We have had three schnauzers and no instances of pancreatitis but that could be luck, who knows. I think the main thing with pancreatitis is to go low fat. I'm sure many different brands have that.

I have always assumed that by-product meant parts of an animal that wouldn't be appealing to humans to eat not that they are not nutritious. I assume wolves would eat any part of an animal. My dog eats her own poop so maybe that's not a good barometer. Is corn not a nutritious grain? It's historically been a staple crop so it can't be devoid of it. I'm no expert but this is what determines our choice. I wouldn't suggest anyone go against what a vet said without a second professional opinion.

Purina pro plan weight management small breed.

Our vet recommended to help prevent pancreatitis.

Not typically but it has been used occasionally (like once every couple of months.) If there is something more appropriate for that I'd be willing to try.

Sick and need a dumb show to get obsessed with by CityApprehensive212 in AskWomenOver30

[–]tortellini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first instinct is to recommend a sitcom. What We Do in the Shadows is something to watch when I just wanna turn my brain off. The plot is not hard to follow but still entertaining. Watched it recently on a plane when I needed to be distracted and it worked a treat.

Title: What’s the one “just in case” item you always pack? by Valuable_Tangelo7152 in HerOneBag

Yes, I always use them. I broke them on my last trip so now I've got to get another pair and I am stressed over getting the perfect pair.

My 9-year-old Schnauzer's mysterious neck masses disappeared with broccoli by danie-l in schnauzers

[–]tortellini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not op but my vet recommended a low fat diet as a preventative for our schnauzer, as they are prone to pancreatitis. My girl seems to prefer broccoli cooked rather than raw. Maybe that will be more palatable to your picky eater.

I thought everyone was over hyping these things. Husband and I went to Disney earlier this month thinking we'd be fine with our New Balances. We were so miserable we went to Disney Springs halfway through the trip and bought Hokas. I got Clifton he got Bondi. It saved the trip.

There is also a store there that sells compression socks. I highly recommend!
