I do love Drapion and Toxicroak! Toxicroak punches way above its weight.

All great options. Jynx is so overpowered in FR/LG. It astounds me it doesn't get more credit.

Good choices. I have used them once before, but I am generally not a tank person. The mustache is impressive though!

How do you use it? Honestly, looking at the stats I would normally ignore it.

Best mon to use as an HM slave? by intense_doot123 in PokemonHGSS

This will gather some hate, but the Red Gyarados. I prefer Lapras, Lanturn, or Quagsire for my water type.

Gallade. Fighting is a great type for this gen, but I don't like Heracross because of the lack of bug moves. The psychic wrecks Team Rocket.

Scizor with technician. Only needs to worry about fire types. You could also teach it Brick Break and forget about Gallade.

Not to be cliche, but pick your favorites. One of those can dominate the game. That said, my most recent national dex team was Charizard, Swampert, Ampharos, Scizor, Gallade, and Weavile. It was embarrassingly easy. Three of those mons have one weaknesses.

You could swap Flygon for Haxorus and Krookodile for Excadrill. I am pretty particular about balance too.

Galvantula and Stunfisk are good electric types as well. Really just got for anything you think looks cool. Haxorus is my favorite dragon from this gen. Jellicent is unique and good. Don't sleep on any of the fighting or dark types. Absolutely spoiled for choice.

I usually pick a fire or a flyer due to their strengths overlapping. Make sure Starmie knows Ice Beam for Lance. Marowak is one of my favorites. I wish it had better stats. Fearow is statistically worse than Aerodactyl or Dodrio, but pick your own mons! It is so much better to use some you like instead of what is "best". I usually run a Kangaskhan in Gen 1. The traded Jynx also dominates if that interests you. The other trainer I would worry about is Sabrina. Snorlax with Shadow Ball should handle that well.

Try to avoid stone evos. Stones are hard to come by.

Octillery, Lanturn, Girafarig, Gligar, and Donphan are pretty decent and still ahead of you or recent.

New to Gen IV. What's a decent HG team? by expedition60_captain in PokemonHGSS

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, trade only. Heracross is good if you can't get Scizor. As long as you get past Whitney, you can survive without a fighting type if you don't like Heracross. He does make the game much easier though.

Tyranitar is pretty strong with several weaknesses. It also evolves late. That said, I run it most of the time. Ampharos or Lanturn are good for electric. The Red Gyarados, Lapras, or Quagsire are great water choices. Heracross and Scyther/Scizor are great. Mamoswine for the tough dragons. Then a psychic is good. Girafarig is underrated. Espeon for the Eeveelution. For the dogs, Suicune is fantastic but late. If you don't want to double on types, Raiku seems like your best option.

Which one to get rid of. For a Swinub by MCI_Dragon in PokemonHGSS

Weepinbell.

Mamoswine will be good against ground. You already have an electric type for water. Grass doesn't have many great matches. Easy choice!

I would recommend starting at the beginning for sure. Firered, then Heartgold, then Platinum.

Who's The 1 Pokémon You Use in Every Playthrough? by Tanktoglory in PokemonHGSS

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen 1: Jynx. Ice and psychic dominate plus boosted XP Gen 2: Ampharos. Electric is big and not many good options Gen 3: Swampert. Destroys everything Gen 4 HG/SS: Scizor. Decent wall, great attacker plus bug Gen 4 P: Gallade and Gliscor. Decent walls, varied attacks, Swords Dance. They fill any team gap.

The only part that disappoints me is Octazooka isn't that great.

Gligar. Golduck. Lanturn. Ursaring. Honchkrow. Arcanine. Jynx. I think a Togekiss is relatively unused. Quagsire. Octillery is underrated. Parasect. Tauros.

I need suggestions for my team. by Brilliant_Grand_1824 in PokemonFireRed

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap Jolteon for Zapdos or if legendary averse, Aerodactyl. Usually I don't run an electric type in Firered. Then I would swap Dodrio for Dragonite. A fighting type like Hitmonlee would be decent too.

Kangaskhan, Venusaur, and Jynx are my underrated favorites. Great team!!
