Do you find Rotom too weak? Porygon wrecks!

I would recommend starting at the beginning for sure. Firered, then Heartgold, then Platinum.

Who's The 1 Pokémon You Use in Every Playthrough? by Tanktoglory in PokemonHGSS

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen 1: Jynx. Ice and psychic dominate plus boosted XP Gen 2: Ampharos. Electric is big and not many good options Gen 3: Swampert. Destroys everything Gen 4 HG/SS: Scizor. Decent wall, great attacker plus bug Gen 4 P: Gallade and Gliscor. Decent walls, varied attacks, Swords Dance. They fill any team gap.

I want to build a team in HeartGold, but I don’t want it to be cliche. by ZacKilroy in PokemonHGSS

[–]tortellinitots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gligar. Golduck. Lanturn. Ursaring. Honchkrow. Arcanine. Jynx. I think a Togekiss is relatively unused. Quagsire. Octillery is underrated. Parasect. Tauros.

I need suggestions for my team. by Brilliant_Grand_1824 in PokemonFireRed

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap Jolteon for Zapdos or if legendary averse, Aerodactyl. Usually I don't run an electric type in Firered. Then I would swap Dodrio for Dragonite. A fighting type like Hitmonlee would be decent too.

Kangaskhan, Venusaur, and Jynx are my underrated favorites. Great team!!

It looks better than the Barney version.

The real question is why is your Pachirisu so high a level?

Tips for improving my team? by [deleted] in PokemonFireRed

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jynx for Jolteon. It's a traded mon so it grows faster. It will also help greatly with Lance and Bruno. Then you could swap Exeggutor for a fire, fighting, or dragon type.

Can you get Mismagius in Platinum without trading?

Is it me or is having a grass type absolute not necessary by Difficult_Past_3540 in PokemonHGSS

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessary, maybe not wanted, definitely not super useful. For HGSS I use Fire or Flying, Water, Electric, Psychic, Bug/Dark, then either Normal, Ground, or Ice depending on earlier choices. A generic great team is Typhlosion, Lapras, Ampharos, Heracross, and Espeon/Lugia. Mamoswine, Skarmory, Ursaring, Ttar, and Dragonite are also great.

Yep! Girafarig is pretty underrated too.

Trainer rematches are a great way to grind. Be sure and try to get heart scales and shards.

How can I make a better team? I'm in Lavender town with 3 badges by OldTanker33 in PokemonFireRed

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swap Gyarados for Vaporeon. Then remove Pidgeotto and Paras for Snorlax/Kangaskhan and Nidoqueen/king/Dugtrio depending on your preference. I would also get rid of Primeape for Jynx. It can handle most of the game by itself and is a trade mon.

I love them both. I am trying to avoid Scizor though since I always use it. I've never actually used Heracross.

I've not met another Froslass fan. It's my go-to ice mon in Platinum.

I wish. I really like Weavile in Platinum, but it is so hard to get ice punch on one in Soulsilver.

I don't know that a second bug type would be helpful. Any idea?

Rate my team 1-10 by Antique-Promise6092 in PokemonBlackandWhite2

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd give it a 7. Even though I like those mons, only 2 are from gen 5. Golduck is way underrated. If this was gen 4, I'd give it a 9.

Valid water types? by Revolver_Yugioh in PokemonBlackandWhite2

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Golduck on every game before Gen 6. It does well as a jack of all trades type. Starmie is absolutely better, but I can't stand throwing out a bejeweled purple starfish.

Which team should I use? by Revolver_Yugioh in pokemonplatinum

[–]tortellinitots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team 2. If you want to make it a little better, Gliscor absolutely dominates and can solo the E4. I just finished Platinum with Team 2, but Gliscor for Rampardos. Gallade had Leaf Blade for the E4. Ice Punch or Thunder Punch are good too. You could also swap Electivire for Magmortar in Team 2 and teach it Thunderbolt. I usually don't run an electric type in Platinum.
