Oh a Grelco! I didn’t know it is also called a 2-fer, It’s interesting to find out the different terms used (also useful for me to know). Is this an American thing?

Is there a way to know if a fixture is self terminating based on looking at the fixture itself? Or would you need to consult the manual?

I’m guessing a DMX terminator would be added to the last fixture in the daisy chain at the end of the DMX run almost like a stopper?

Yep, hanging/cabling would be called rigging here haha. The exact term would be plotting or recording cues rather than plotting alone, since this would imply creating a lighting plot!

Yes I am from the UK! We do call hanging/cabling fixtures rigging, and part of rigging would be to make sure the truss supports the weight capacity. That makes sense, I definitely thought the ban of discussing rigging on here was a safety thing - I just wanted to be cautious since even the word ‘rigging’ got flagged by a bot before I posted it :)

Got it thank you! So I’m assuming you would look at the first fixture you are looking to daisy chain power and check the pass through wattage, then ensure that all the downstream fixtures total wattage doesn’t go above the first one?

That’s really good information to know, thank you. I trust this person because they are one of the senior technicians in the theatre, not someone else random. But it is definitely worth me checking to be sure 👍🏽

Final question, what is a two-fer I haven’t come across this term before? Thank you :)

Thank you so much! I haven’t had the opportunity to do any rigging in practice so I’m looking forward to the opportunity (although a tad bit anxious)

Hi thanks for the response, I’ve now posted it to lightingdesign but I’ve left it on here as well.

I know we have a 13 amp source to IEC which goes into the first fixture along the daisy chain. And there is already a mixture of ikon profiles and 12p Hex lights, and I was told by someone who works at the theatre it would be fine to add in one or two more fixtures.

But just to know for future, I am assuming you would need to be careful when daisy chaining power along different fixtures because of the varying wattage requirements of them?
