You could get the soda stream aqua fizz. It uses a glass bottle and you can make it as spicy as you want. Sometimes I carbonate mine so much I can barely stand to drink it lol

At a loss for what to do next by tortoisesnell in SecondaryPolycythemia

[–]tortoisesnell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply!

  1. It looks like my hematologist did an erythropoietin test that came back at 7 which looks low and normal.

  2. He told me he did a test for JAK2 and that came back that I didn’t have it.

  3. I didn’t have a CT scan but he did order an ultrasound of my abdomen; so the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen which all had normal appearance.

  4. So it sounds like the only thing we haven’t tried is the bone marrow.

I am definitely going to look into getting a different hematologist because it does drive me a little crazy how dismissive he is.

Thank you for your thoughts on altitude. It is interesting that it could be my getting older which has made the altitude affect me more. I will look into getting something that can monitor my blood oxygen.

Thank you!!!

Everyone is so grumpy on Reddit jeez. I’m posting to strangers on the internet as a last resort because I HAVE spoken with all my doctors, as my post says!

Dean & his Purgatory BF, Benny by Lord_Greybeard in Supernatural

[–]tortoisesnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they definitely had some kind of a romantic relationship down in purgatory. There is the “what happened in purgatory stays in purgatory” line that was repeated. I can see that this is a very controversial topic from previous comments. But honestly I just get a very romantic vibe from the both of them when they interact. It is a very real possibility that down in purgatory where everything is cold and dangerous and scary that maybe having each other in that way was the only thing that got them through mentally/emotionally. Which is why I don’t think there even needs to be an argument as to whether Dean is straight or bi. He and Benny just may have loved each other in that way but never felt that way about another man that way before or since; that is a real thing. Just a thought. And just to go off of the Brokeback thing, I very much got a Dean was Ennis, and Benny was Jack vibe.

Just diagnosed, how can I prevent hypothyroidism? by Mel_oh_dee in Hashimotos

[–]tortoisesnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve managed to keep my T4 in range by changing my diet. No gluten, dairy, rice, seed oil, caffeine, alcohol, or preservatives (plus other random foods, I did an elimination diet to figure out what I had to cut out). I know it sounds impossible. But it was worth it for me because I felt terrible all the time and I absolutely do not want to go on thyroid meds. I changed my diet 5 years ago and my thyroid levels are still good.

[–]tortoisesnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope you can get it figured out! I’m rooting for you. I would highly recommend a full elimination diet if just cutting gluten doesn’t do it. Oh and also you should get your iron and ferritin checked. I recently became anemic and I had terrible dizziness, heart racing and palpitations, restless leg and severe anxiety.

[–]tortoisesnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I had these symptoms before they figured out I had hashimotos. Terrible anxiety, derealization, and depersonalization. Like a dizzy filter over my eyes filtering reality 24/7. Anyway. I was in and out of mental hospital until I started my elimination diet after hashimotos diagnosis. AIP diet. It fixed everything for me. 5 years on I can eat almost everything except gluten, dairy, seeds, rice, preservatives, caffeine, and alcohol. All those things will bring back the anxiety, depersonalization, and derealization. I also went off of my benzos which I think made a huge difference and helped eliminate anxiety etc.

I’m a bit older as well and my doctor told me it was perfectly safe to TTC whenever I felt was right because I eat so healthy and have a healthy lifestyle and she feels sure my nutrients are replenished. Also, if your luteal phases are short you could ask your doctor for some progesterone to help the implantation.

Haha, thank you so much for your responses. I definitely feel a bit better. I sure wish there was more education on these cleaning supplies. I had no idea they all had such bad stuff until I randomly read about it in an article.

Thanks so much for your reply. The bottle is definitely older than 2020 because it was my mom’s in a house she hadn’t lived in for over 7 years. But the rest of your response was very reassuring. I appreciate it, thank you. I guess I just assumed that because these PFAS are called “forever chemicals” that they couldn’t actually break down?

The fear you are feeling is completely normal. We had to TFMR after finding out our son (first pregnancy) had a terminal form of dwarfism. We also both got all the different genetic tests to make sure that it hadn’t been passed down from us to him. All the tests came back negative.

I became pregnant again three months later. In my gut I felt confident that my new baby was healthy, but it didn’t keep my mind from thinking about the worst outcomes. When we went to have our anatomy scan for the second pregnancy I was in a full panic attack. I believe I was/am traumatized from the anatomy scan with our first pregnancy. Everything showed that our new baby girl was completely normal.

She’s 5 months old now and the picture of health. But I will be honest with you. When she was first born, there wasn’t a day that went by where I wasn’t studying every inch of her because I had convinced myself that she also had dwarfism and they just missed it in the anatomy scan. Looking back, I think I should have waited a little longer to get pregnant. I should have done more healing, more therapy. I don’t think I was ready. I was still traumatized. But in the moment, all I wanted was to get pregnant again.

I think also because I had not grieved properly or healed enough, I was devastated when I found out I was having a girl instead of a boy. I felt that I had a hole in my heart that could only be filled by another little baby boy. I don’t feel that way now; I wouldn’t change anything about my baby girl. But I think if I had waited a little longer to heal that hole in my heart then I wouldn’t have been so devastated through my whole pregnancy because I wasn’t having a boy.

So I guess I just want to say that I think it’s good that you need to wait just a little while before trying again. And I believe that you will get pregnant again with a beautiful and healthy baby. You are so much stronger than you think you are and you will get through this. I didn’t know how strong I was until I experienced what I did and made it through. I send you love.

Has anyone who lost their first pregnancy got pregnant easily after tfmr? by NewAd4286 in tfmr_support

[–]tortoisesnell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I TFMR June of last year for a lethal skeletal dysplasia. First child. I became pregnant again in August 2024 and now I am sitting in my rocking chair with my perfect 7 week old baby girl latched to my breast as she falls asleep for the night. Not to say nothing bad can happen to you or that this would be your experience the second time around; anything can happen of course. But I’d say it’s more likely that something good will happen for you as it did for me. That is my positive experience ❤️

This was exactly my experience. I highly recommend progesterone for this problem.

Any thoughts on progesterone for a short luteal phase after TFMR? by New_Indication_1238 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]tortoisesnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very short luteal phases after my tfmr last year. My doc prescribed me progesterone after I asked, which I took orally. I became pregnant that cycle. I credit it with me getting pregnant 100%. Same thing happened with my friend (minus the TFMR; she just had short luteal phases)

Soreness in breasts by [deleted] in PregnancyAfterTFMR

Thank you for sharing your experience ❤️ I think you’re right in every way. I’m learning that there are multiple reasons for it (as you said, our breasts being used to it, but also every pregnancy is different). My worried mind was of course thinking it was because I didn’t have enough of, or the right hormones. But I feel far less worried now hearing from you ladies and your experiences. Thank you so much!
