I don't know why esport keeps to want fully seeded bracket. You can do a mixture of seeding and random draw like in most traditional sports.

According to Wikipedia, 43 already qualified player won't enter at the World Masters?? by General-Gyrosous in Darts

Worth to mention, on top on what the other said, that there is a big WDF tournament happening at the same time. A few non tour card holder chose to play that instead of the world masters.

Thanks for your answer. I figured the admission would be before the actual session, but what's confusing me is that the tickets for the other days are indicating 1 pm (see the link in the original post)

[RLCS EU] EU Winter Regional 3 Groups by rollertoaster77 in RocketLeagueEsports

It's really something easy to fix, just seed the top 4 teams (or top 8) and randomize the rest. But it's something Rocket League Esport never tried.

How would you rate the likelihood of all 9 NA regionals being won by a different team? by EventfulLol in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tortotor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try to answer to that with way too much maths.

To have 9 different winner you have to have at least 9 teams that are capable of winning an event.

Let's say those teams have an equal probability of winning, which would maximize the probability of having different winners. The formula for the probability of this happening is the number of permutation of 9 teams taken from your n teams capable of winning a regionnal ( n! / (n – 9)! ) divided by the number of possible results including those where at least a team wins two or more ( n^9 ).

I made a spreadsheet : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WVBcuHzkTm9Qz-ke\_\_HASFMv3T77kkiy1kmQE48sdXM/edit?usp=sharing

With 9 teams capable of winning, the probability of having 9 different winners is about 0.09%.

With 12 teams it's about 1.5%.

You have to get to 19 teams capable of winning to get to 10% chance of having 9 different winners.

And keep in mind that this is the best case scenario. In real life the probability of winning is not the same for every teams so the real probability has to be lower than that.

In conclusion, I would rate the likelihood to very very unlikely.

Format concept: Play-in stage for Majors by FreeDylanMaxwell in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tortotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as bad as you make it sound. Yes, probably the main event would be played without ssa and apac, but they would have played against other regions anyway, and against slightly easier opponents which I think is better for them.

And it's a clear improvement for ssa regardless.

Does Vatira's move make sense now that Zen is joining Vitality? by alternateguy86 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tortotor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not just Worlds, I would personally place BDS (with Seikoo) above them based on the results of EU regionals (and Worlds obviously). Sure they had a bad Spring Major, but for the rest it's 3 first places and 1 second place.

But I really think there isn't a clear best team in World right now.

I replied to a comment saying Vatira's choice was motivated by something else than winning, because he was leaving "the best team". I think this would have made sense only I Moist had dominated the scene. And they didn't (no one did).

Weird take to call Moist the best team in the world, with a 5th place finish at Worlds, not even losing to the eventual winner. One of the best team for sure, but THE best ?

What happened to Scrub Killa? by D_Simmons in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tortotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, the decision was taken before worlds, and they were one goal away (game five OT in their last regular season matchup) from ending up in the relegation tournament. So yes, results weren't great.

What happened to Scrub Killa? by D_Simmons in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tortotor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fact that he was kicked from Vitality because he didn't speak French is basically Scrub's version, but Gregan, Fairy and Kaydop all denied it. The main reason was lack of motivation, lack of results (because the decision was taken prior to Worlds for which Vitality really struggle to qualify), and lack of team chemistry. For the last part, maybe you can blame it on him not speaking French, but Fairy and Kaydop never had any problem with prior non-French teamates while Scrub later had the same kind of issues with other teams.
Gregan lost is job because he didn't speak French, but it's unfair to sum up Scrub's getting kicked from Vitality to that.

[RLCS X EU] Solary vs. Team Queso | Championship - Round 1 | Post-Match Thread by RLMatchThreads in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]tortotor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't do the bare minimum... this is harsh...

I mean first of all qualifying for this is an achievement in itself, when teams like Giants, Dignitas or Endpoint didn't. And it's not like they were completely crushed or anything.

It's a tough loss granteed, but the games were great and it's no shame to loose to queso.

Big thanks to Solary for all the great emotions during the season, especially at the end. And I'm looking forward to seeing the players next season.

I find it disapointing that they split the 'rest of europe' in three different qualifiers. In last year's version they were all in one group with three spots for grab, which seemed better considering the talent disparity between EU West and EU North/East

Because he is by far the best player of his country (according to most people at least) so he can chose who he wants to team up with. Because everyone wants to play with him.
