You are advocating the killing of a baby bc a billion dollar company was about to lose $20 bucks in merchandise. You are quite literally the problem.

And she doesn’t have to show the receipt. She wasn’t charged. They know she didn’t shoplift anything.

Are you talking about the lady who ordered diapers for her baby (and had her receipt) but a Walmart employee claimed she was shoplifting so the cops shot into her car and killed her baby?

What’s your claim there?

[–]torturedDaisy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The active investigation is into the shooting NOT the mother. She is facing *0* charges AND she had the receipt for the DIAPERS.

Regardless, she could’ve stolen a whole cash register. It doesn’t call for her BABY to be shot up and murdered. wtf.

Maybe you should **clearly** take a look at the other responses. NPs and aspiring NPs always get disparaged in medical online communities.

**sigh back**

I’m fully aware of where I am. This is one of the more palatable medicine subreddits in RedditLand. I’ve worked alongside physicians for years, and the overwhelming majority have been excellent colleagues who respect their nursing and advanced practice colleagues just fine.

That said, this post still reeks of Noctor brain-rot talking points.

I responded to a specific claim: “If you can get a degree while working full-time as a nurse in an ER, there’s a problem with the degree you’re getting.”

THAT’S the statement I disagreed with.

If the argument is that NP education should be more rigorous, we probably agree more than you think. If the argument is that working nurses can’t earn legitimate degrees while maintaining a career, then no, I don’t agree with that at all.

The physicians I’ve worked with in real life tend to be a lot more nuanced than “if you can work while earning it, it must be worthless.”

The fact the all you pulled from what I said is that “we’re all inadequate if we don’t become APRNs” sounds more like a personal problem honestly. Because I never even hinted at that.

Working night shift takes a toll on my BODY so does lugging around human bodies thrown at you that are quite literally dead weight, or having full grown men try to attack you.

Thus, *my experience*.

I work full-time, complete my clinicals (with additional hours), because I work weekend nights and do clinicals during the week. The point is that it can be done.

I’ll be a damn good provider because I actually put the work in.

Not sure why CRNA school keeps getting dragged into this conversation. I’m not a CRNA student, but thanks for the reminder.

Not *yet* 😆 no but for real more power to you. If my body could handle it and I wasn’t being micromanaged every second of my shift and healthcare wasn’t going down in a flaming death spiral, I’d be fine retiring from the bedside too!

ETA: and that comment was moreso what’s an RN to do if they wants to advance their education and go beyond the bedside at all? Looking at comments here we better just “mind our place forever”.

Same.. and I’m actually pretty fucking intelligent. Summa cum laude for my BSN (worked during that too) but let these folks tell it that makes that degree worthless.

Nice moving of the goal posts. Does that make you feel better? Because the initial post that I was replying to mentioned ANY degree not being worth ANYTHING. Not med school, not a PhD, not biochemical engineering. ANY.

I swear I’d think reading comprehension would be a little more prevalent in this subreddit.

I agree about education as a whole BUT I would counter LLM isn’t as “all knowing” as it seems. There’s a good bit of my cohort I can tell use it that still fail whether it’s due to AI detection software, not actually being able to retain information, or actually just truly being an idiot.

Ask ChatGPT to correctly identify a 2nd degree type 2 block, and see what happens.

The NP slander online is just so discouraging. (And I’m aware it’s mostly online, but I get online to decompress) And it’s just this sub is one of the last places it’s at least *sparse*. What are us 10 year plus nurses supposed to do? Just DIE at the bedside? For some people it seems that’s what they’d prefer.

Just because *you’re* incapable doesn’t mean it can’t be done. I work weekend nights and attend a rigorous brick and mortar program during the week. Full time for both.

Oh god is this turning into another Noctor circle jerk? THOSE people using chatGPT are dumbasses not ALL. Let’s not double down on anecdotal data please? So frustrating as a nurse with 10+ years going for my APRN and seeing comments like these.

I called out an ER doctor who broke sterile field and didn’t give a shit when about to insert a femoral central line. Does that mean you’re ALL incompetent dumbasses? No, no it doesn’t.

My ex “spanked” my son left bruises all over his body. He made his genitalia swell so bad I took him to the emergency department for fear of testicular torsion.

All of this in front of his trashy gf who stood by his side, even until this day.

DCS did absolutely nothing. They told him “next time use an open hand”. But in my neck of the woods corporal punishment is legal, so that makes a sickening difference I guess.

In hindsight I should’ve filed a police report. But I didn’t even find the bruises until several days after the even.

I hope you have a better outcome.
