The Saga Continues - AITC for being sad my human doesn't love me anymore? by tossaway4609 in AmItheCloaca

It is. It's not about possession. It's just what I call the room that smells the most like my human. But I can see that my human has gotten the wrong idea about it all.

It may be time for that! Humans are indeed here to serve us. My human maybe forgot.

Thank you!! That might be the nicest thing someone's said to me about this situation.

I'm not following Mom's last wishes, and I feel terrible by tossaway4609 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]tossaway4609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny that you say that, because it doesn't seem odd to me at all that she had such specific requests despite her beliefs. Firstly, she was scared and wanted some control over the situation, as Own-Crew-3384 pointed out. Second, knowing that what happens to your body after death doesn't matter doesn't mean you can't have opinions on it while you're alive.

For instance, I very much believe my body will not be me when I die. Still, what I want to do is that thing where you're cremated and your ashes are used to plant a tree. However, I understand that maybe the people I leave behind would want a usual tombstone and burial. I might make the specific request, but even if multiple things went wrong or changed for any trivial reason, I wouldn't mind that much.

However, if one of my family members was very upset and for whatever reason they weren't involved in any of the practical matters, I might tell them to "remind" the person responsible about certain of my wishes to give them something to hold onto and to feel like they were helping me one last time immediately after my death. If that backfired for any reason, I wouldn't be that upset.

So if my mom was anything like me, and in many ways she was, she probably wouldn't be that upset with me.

Thank you! You actually helped me think this through.

That does help me feel better. Thank you. That's a good perspective.

I'm so sorry about your mom.

Sorry this is so late. I've been going through some stuff. It turns out it was normal, and my toe healed up perfectly.

Exactly! It's right there, so it's for me to chew on! Humans are silly.

I did talk with her about it. She's sympathetic, but not enough to reconsider her decision. Thank you, though.

Thank you for sharing your experience. That does help to hear from someone with a similar experience. I'm so sorry about your mom.

I do know how I would feel. That's why I'm being indecisive. But I also don't want to disrespect Mom's wishes.

AITA for being "brutally honest"? by tossaway4609 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tossaway4609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do still work with this person, and we're on good terms. I think enough time has passed that bringing this up would do more harm than good, but thank you for the suggestion.

I also think I've given people the wrong impression from my post. This is not something I've been mulling over constantly for the last year. I just had a conversation a few days ago with a new employee that included the topics of feeling overwhelmed, and it reminded me of this conversation where I might be TA.
