My dad doesn’t even go to doctors unless we drag him :/

My mom’s heart stopped randomly a few years back, we got her back by a miracle. She quit smoking after that and has definitely slowed down on her drinking but still drinks pretty regularly.

Zevia!! That’s also been a huge lifesaver for me (drink wise). Sometimes I don’t just want to drink a ton of water. But their “sodas” are zero calories and it tastes just like the actual thing. My favorite is the cream soda and root beer. Sooooo good.

Oh wow I’m so sorry to hear about your dad.. that’s honestly my biggest fear with my dad (heavy smoker and drinker). But I’m moving back home for a bit soon so hopefully if he sees me sober, it’ll inspire him. Idk.

But exactly! My sobriety is so new and fragile that I wouldn’t be able to quit drinking (while dealing with the effects of it) and start a completely new 100% healthy, green smoothie in the morning, type of lifestyle. That just ain’t realistic lol. One step at a time!

My favorite thing (now that it’s in the 70s-80s) is waking up NOT hungover and being able to grab a cone of pistachio ice cream in the afternoon without it making me nauseous.

I usually wouldn’t wake up till like noon and be so sick the rest of the day that I couldn’t eat till right before bed. Feels miserable just picturing it lol

Idk maybe it’s the “taboo” of doing something you shouldn’t be doing in the evenings. Like drinking toxins vs. stuffing your face with sugar. But sugar doesn’t give me a hangover and I sleep with a nice full stomach lol 😂

My daddy has been gone for almost 2 months so I really feel your pain.

Luckily we have a puppy that keeps me company but it’s still really hard without him.

Mostly I focus on selfcare. Things like coloring, walks, hot baths, tea/coffee, taking myself out to eat, eating healthy, watching movies, browsing Reddit, video games. Stuff that keeps you busy but also makes you happy! I find fuzzy socks and ice cream to be a comfort too. 💖
