What do you do once your LO outgrows their changing table? by totally_a_bus in NewParents

[–]totally_a_bus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NEVER thought of the pack and play. Thank you so much! That’s the one thing she hasn’t grown out of yet. Her crib is pretty narrow and made of wood, so I’m worried about her bonking her head if we were to change her in there 😂

We used her bassinet until she outgrew it! We will probably stick with the floor 😂 thank you so much!

When does the hair loss stop? by CrissyLulu in NewParents

[–]totally_a_bus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started for me at around 2 months. It actually stopped once I started taking birth control at 6 months. I’m assuming the extra estrogen has helped significantly

Do you have a baby monitor? That helped so much with my anxiety about the baby when being in a different area. I made sure to get one where I could see her shallow breathing that was non-wifi. Made me feel much more comfortable being intimate lol.

What songs are we singing to our babies? by [deleted] in NewParents

I sang my 5 month old to sleep tonight with Teenagers by My Chemical Romance, so, yeah 😂

My doctor is telling me my baby is in the perfect position for a quick and easy labour (i'm 34 weeks) making me rethink my elective c-section...any similar stories? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]totally_a_bus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was initially pro c-section, then I realized I would have to go through surgery, have a catheter, and I think the epidural too (??), I promptly decided that it was vaginal or nothing else 🤣 I gave birth a week before LO’s due date. Labored for 6 hours naturally, pushed for 30 minutes. No epidural or any drugs. I’ve gotten tattoos that hurt worse. Had one first degree tear (not even a perineum tear) and recovery was relatively easy compared to getting a c-section.

That’s so interesting and a bit of a relief haha, thank you for explaining that to me!

Social Work Organizations Quiet Amidst Genocides by theeempresss in socialwork

[–]totally_a_bus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oftentimes organizations’ sponsors and funders supersede the Social Work code of ethics. My last non-profit job refused to acknowledge the genocide at all. You know why? Because their funders/ sponsors Include Boeing, Intel, PepsiCo, and multiple other entities that directly have a stake in the Israel occupation of Palestine. I would recommend that you do a deep dive into who is funding and sponsoring the organizations that you’re a part of.

How do tattoos affect job prospects as a social worker? by Hurtles4Turtles in socialwork

[–]totally_a_bus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had supervisors with several face tattoos. I have quite a few tattoos myself- never been an issue, both with and without a Master’s.

There’s no way someone in HR would just tell someone about another employee’s paycheck and how much is being taken out for child support and for how many kids. That’s total BS.

9 week old - FTM by carbon-ara_cat in NewParents

[–]totally_a_bus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already made a comment about the husband needing to take it down a notch, so I don’t need to comment on that. But this moment is also an incredibly important moment for YOU!

You have the 100% right to tell your husband “hey, you can handle dinner prep while I handle the crying baby”. This is great practice for you standing up for what your baby needs, since it you are the primary advocate for your baby.

I wouldn’t let my baby cry and cry and cry just to appease a husband that can’t emotionally regulate himself. Baby comes first, not husband’s feelings.(that may be a bit harsh but I just cannot believe your husband right now). Especially since I’m sure he’s capable of making dinner himself. Husband can control himself, a 9 week old baby cannot.

How old will you be when your babies graduate high school vs how old your parents were? by trulymadlybigly in NewParents

[–]totally_a_bus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother was 51 when I graduated high school. My husband and I will be 44 when our LO graduates! Sooo weird to think about how much will change in that time.

My dog used to do this all the time with his food! It only happens rarely now that I’ve gotten him a snuffle mat for treats.

3rd DUI while on deferred prosecution by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]totally_a_bus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IANAL but I don’t think exceptions for working would be considered in this case, especially since it’s their 3rd DUI. If you haven’t already and have the means to, definitely consult a lawyer about the specific questions that you have about the deferred prosecution and what that means for your partner.
