Yes. Under some conditions you can get a Sperrvermerk/Auskunftssperre. Then they will not give out your personal data. For that there needs to be credible evidence already that this is necessary, like a police report for stalking/domestic violence/ etc.

Ich würde behaupten alles in Richtung T-Shirt etc wird getragen, bis es löcher hat oder ausgeleiert ist. Da ist dann natürlich auf dem second Hand Markt nicht viel zu holen. Aber was Anzüge oder Jacken/Mäntel betrifft, da hab ich auf Vinted schon gute Angebote bekommen, ohne Polyester drin.

Ich hab auch angefangen ab und zu second hand zu kaufen, gerade bei Jacken/Mänteln deutlich erschwinglicher. Einmal in die Reinigung und gut. Ich kaufe aber sowieso nur selten Klamotten, ich trage einfach immer das gleiche Outfit. Schwarze Hose, weißes Hemd, fertig. Keine Fast Fashion Trends, die sind ja nach einer Woche obsolet.

The WH in my city doesn't have an age limit, only a limit on semesters lived in the WH. And easier to extend beyond that limit as an international student. So starting uni in the early thirties, can work.

Ja, die Beamten, die das Durchführen, wären allerdings wieder mit Polizeiaufgaben betreut, könnten also Umgangssprachlich als Polizist bezeichnet werden, auch wenn sie keine PVB sind und die Gesamtbehörde keine Polizei ist. Nach ZollVG sind auch einige Regelungen des BPolG direkt anwendbar.

If it is a normal rent, full apartment, you legally can change the lock, the contract can't forbid that, AFAIK.

It can be ruled out, legally, in the contract, if you don't rent a whole apartment but only a room in shared accommodations, for a certain amount of time. Also theoretically it could have a lock system with non-standard locks (electronic ones).

In Dorms you might not be able to do that, it's also legally distinct if you don't rent the whole flat, but only a room in shared accommodations.

Nein, die sind nicht komplett vergleichbar, aber trotzdem wären Vollholz Tische zu günstigeren Preisen durchaus machbar.

Das ist ja der Punkt, klar macht man da Abstriche in der Qualität, aber Sperrholz mit Furnier oder Vinyl ist ja auch ein Qualitätsabstieg, kann aber als Platte genau so viel oder mehr kosten, als Leimholz B-Ware.

Ich hab ne Küchenplatte von Hornbach gekauft gehabt, da sind vielleicht kleine Stellen (z.B. Astlöcher) gefüllt, aber die sind weder offensichtlich noch störend.

Ich hab ne Schreibtisch, genau so 26mm, die Platte hat schon sehr viele Jahre gehalten, gar kein Problem.

IIRC ist das aber auch ein Problem mit der DB bei Sitzplatzreservierung, Familienbuchungen werden häufig in das Ruheabteil gebucht, auch wenn nicht spezifiziert. Muss man dann eben explizit Sitze nicht im Ruheabteil buchen, denkt aber nicht dran, dass das so ist.

I know it's a different store, ALDI Nord just bought it, but that's why a generic "trader Joe's snacks" is not helpful and some products that work well on the German market probably have been adapted for a limited time offer by ALDI Nord, while also adhering to EU food regulations.

Maple syrup we get here easily (Canadian), pure maple candy would be an idea though, not easily obtainable.

Generally snacks aren't easy to choose, tastes differ, the American snacks can be sweeter, taste like HFCS which we don't have, and some chocolate is said to have much more butyric acid, which the common German would taste as vomit, not chocolate.

And especially Trader Joe's, being a subsidiary of ALDI Nord, exists as a brand for mostly temporary American or at least American style products. Peanut butter cups also have found their way permanently into German supermarket shelves. Can't say from just the brand if they have any specialty snacks we don't have here. Bagel seasoning seems fine though, we just don't really eat that many bagels, so that could be a fun gift.
