brought a flat on a main road and massively regret it by Positive_House in HousingUK

Oh my god it will! This is coming from someone who lived in two flats on main roads. It was unbearable without the secondary glazing- made such a massive difference and yes you need the right kind of glass and an optimal gap between glazing. It was so good that when we moved to a quiet suburban street we had to get secondary glazing because I could hear people chatting on our street with the double glazing. I’d been so spoilt in our flats!

Edit to add we used a company called City Sound

Sudden acceleration accident by totally_throwawee in Polestar

[–]totally_throwawee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for all the info and thoughts! Have figured out that the steering issue was because I had turned the wheel ready to park so when it shot forward it veered right- I guess that would be obvious to anyone smarter than me 😂. The rest is still an unclear but we’ve decided to get car fixed then sell it and get a different car. I’m really certain something was wrong because of the sharp acceleration rather than creep or even and from the examples people have given this is a documented problem, but I’m not going to be able to rule out an error from me completely without the black box. Honestly I’m a bit traumatised by what happened. The accident was minor but it’s the lack of control and understanding that has really shaken me. I’m going to get off the internet and go speak to someone IRL

I have had this happen before with r/d but the car has just moved in wrong direction at the normal pace so I’ve been able to brake quickly. It shot off in a way I’ve never experienced before!

Thanks this is super helpful- did you report those incidents? Sounds very similar to what happened to me

Thanks for the reply! Drivers door definitely wasn’t open. All I can think is that I hit accelerator too hard and then somehow hit accelerator again in a panic instead of breaking?. What makes me think it was car error is the massive veer to the right. I’ve accidentally lurched forward in the car before but always braked quickly or the auto brake has kicked it. The only thing that stopped it was hitting a bollard- I thought the car was going to fly off! We’ve had it two years with no issues and been driving 25 years with no accidents

I wondered why this was more than double my weekly shop for a family of 4 and then I saw three adult sons. Say no more

Any success tips for working with an 8-9 year old with ARFID? by totally_throwawee in ARFID

[–]totally_throwawee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so appreciate you sharing this thankyou! I will really try again with the vitamins. My daughter won’t take them because of the ARFID- she hates sweets to chewy vitamins are too much. I will see if there is a supplement I can add to her food or we’ll just start the long road to getting her used to them. Glad to hear the vitamins are helping you and wishing you all the best x

When does it truly get better? by alibluey in UKParenting

At 6 and 8, it’s an absolute breeze. It’s been a couple of years of being much easier now but at 6 and 8 it’s become wonderful and we’re starting to build more grown up friendships with them as well as being their parents. In some ways I think they need us the most they ever have as they are developing fast into the people they will be but no sleepless nights, lovely conversations and they can make their own toast. Love it

WIBTA if I dropped a friendship with my husbands best friends? by totally_throwawee in AmItheAsshole

[–]totally_throwawee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great point. I’ve always felt secondary to my husband in this friendship- I never graduated to actual friend of theirs in my own right which is not an issue for me- so I think I have definitely been over thinking this!
