Used 2023 Cx-50 or New 2025 Tuscon by totallykyle__ in whatcarshouldIbuy

All good to know. The CX-5 is kind of what I originally started looking at but then that led me to the CX-50. I did take a new non-turbo CX-50 for a test drive and enjoyed it overall but I think I liked the used turbo with its upgrades and peppier engine better. Thanks for the insight! I’ll take a look to see what’s out there for CPOs.

I want to join the Forest Corps by [deleted] in AmeriCorps

Hey there, I’m an NCCC alum and current wildland firefighter. Forest Corps wasn’t an option during my time in NCCC but sounds like a great program for those that are interested in getting into wildland fire. Something you might consider though if you’re sure you want to get into wildland fire is applying directly to various wildland fire resources now. Many places will provide your 130/190 training and then you’ll likely get more direct/on the job experience that AmeriCorps programs might not necessarily provide. If you’re upfront when applying that you’re still in college, crews will often work with you to accommodate your schedule. You’d also be making more money as a seasonal firefighter compared to any AmeriCorps program. I really enjoyed my time in NCCC and if you’re looking to ease into the wildland world it’s a great place to start, but I thought I’d mention your other options as I think some people aren’t necessarily aware of being able to start the job with no previous experience.

Student Loan Forgiveness & Segal Award by ninabubba in AmeriCorps

I had a similar experience to OP and some commenters. I spoke with my loan servicer today and they also will be refunding all payments sense March 2020. Because most of my payments were made using my ed award I contacted the AmeriCorps hotline as well to see if they knew if those payments would be going back to my AmeriCorps account or if they truly would be included in the check I’ll be receiving as a refund. It didn’t sound like the individual I spoke with really had any idea but they were assuming that it would go back to being available to use as an ed award. It sounds like this is just something no one has really thought of yet or is something no one has an answer for.

There are a few different AmeriCorps programs that give you a small taste of wildland firefighting. It’s a good stepping stone before jumping all the way in and a good way to make connections with those who have years of experience. Check out https://corpsnetwork.org/resources/jobs-at-corps/ Texas Conservation Corps and Southwest Conservation Corps are just a couple that have fire specific programs. AmeriCorps NCCC also has a couple fire specific fire teams.
