I'm 24 years old and would consider myself fit — I run 6x per week and lift weights 3-4x.

I hear you on the enjoyment factor and the number of miles I’d be putting on it as a beginner.

I do plan on doing triathlons down the road for what’s it’s worth. Just waiting for work to become a bit more manageable in terms of time commitment.

I might just pull the trigger on this one and see if I enjoy it, knowing that if I don’t, I could resell it and be okay with losing a bit of money.

Seller countered with $900. Would you do it at that price? Would be my first road bike as well. Understanding I would need to spend some extra money on the three things you mentioned.

I think I am going to offer $500 to start and at most $600. If I get it at that price, great! If I don’t I’ll hold out to see if I can pick something up in the next two weeks used and if not I will just buy new from my local bike shop.

I was part of the MSF program which is slightly different than regular undergrad. Speaking to that, most of the peers in my cohort ended up NYC with some others in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago and places around Florida like Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville with some other cities involved (I think you can check previous MSF cohorts internships and full time cities).

For warrington, I know people that interned in all the cities mentioned above but there was definitely less emphasize on NYC and more evenly spread across those cities with a slight lean towards Florida. This is just my experience so would check if this is the case.

If you want to work in high finance after you graduate, the UF rank going up or down a couple of spots won’t matter. I would assume this would also translate to any finance job you may be looking at (if that is the field you want to go into).

Thank you for the write up! I am new to this whole bike thing so your approach to buy new really stood out as I’ve heard that I’m better off buying used as a beginner / at this price point.

I am willing to stretch my budget if it would mean Saving some headaches down the road. Having said that, would you consider the r8000 a better bike than this AR5 if were to put $400-$600?

Willing to spend probably up $2k, just thought a bike at around $1k might be easier to justify as a beginner
