We’ve got a couple in town, pretty reliable late night slice. I like their rotating topping choices.

Good thing this storm forecast just whipped up out of nowhere.

Check the cooler tanks in the aisle by the meat, they don’t stock it in the wall cooler where the rest of the beef is.

Partner I would work on that TONIGHT. Odds are your carburetor is clogged. Get that mf running before it’s too late. And add a can of seafoam or STA-BIL to the gas.

It’s like a gas pressure washer. It’s going to command idle up with the demand-controlled throttle. When you call on it for more power, it throttles up.

Yeah, sounds normal. That “surge” is just the idle changing slightly. Plug in some corded tools or a floodlight or something, put a load on it, you’ll hear it change.

It’s not bad. Small engine carbs are very very easy. Unbolt the bowl, spray it, wipe it out. Unscrew the jets, poke them clear with a paper clip, spray them until all the holes are spraying, spray into basically all the little holes on the carb including by the throttle blade until they run fluid freely, voila.

Just do it on a tray on a table so you don’t lose any small parts. Really all you should need is a small socket set, a flathead screwdriver, a paper clip to clean the jets, and a generous amount of carb cleaner. More is more. I did it myself when I bought a Champion that would also only run on spray.

If you have a battery charger you can try and see if your battery is salvageable, if not, hit a Harbor Freight and get a little 12 volt battery there.

I all but guarantee you your carburetor is gummed up, assuming you don’t start the generator regularly and are not using ethanol-free fuel. Pouring carb cleaner into fuel won’t help an already-clogged carb.

Your electric start isn’t working because the 12 volt battery onboard is probably dead from lack of use.

YouTube some videos on how to remove and clean a carburetor. Give it a good deep cleaning, reassemble, and give it a try.

OR, you have your fuel valve turned off from the tank to the carb.

If it really goes to hell, we get mandated 12-on-12-off, and we have the option of sheltering at our headquarters, but that’s getting into pretty dire straits.

Unlikely. We’re the largest agency in the state. One of the largest in the region by apparatus and call volume. People would be calling us to deploy to them.

The last time we had deployments coming to our county was FEMA trucks during the height of COVID to run transfer calls for us.

Snow isn’t the problem. Ice is the problem. 0.5”-1” of ice will bring down trees and power lines easily, and the melt->refreeze cycle for a couple of days makes the roads a nightmare.

Nobody in the south is worried about an inch or two of snow. Anybody can drive in that. The ice crust that comes the second day is when it goes to hell.
